    Trujillo is by far the most talented bass they ever had. Yes, even better than the legendary Burton. C'mon, like Lars said in the Somekind of Monster movie when they were auditioning the bass players, if Burton was there they wouldn't have probably picked him either, when they were comparing him to Trujillo. IMO Newsted was better fit in the band, though, like many have said here.

    Let's be honest here, all bassists Metallica has had the past 30 years were talented in their own way - don't know much about McGovney though. Of course there's a matter of taste, but let's not forget what music is about: expression. Cliff expressed through heavy, distorted "guitar-esque" bass-lines, where Jason played more solid lines. Robert is obviously more of a funky player, but when it comes to having a good time on stage, they're pretty much equal in my opinion.
