ccirus it must be a coming of age thing in reality when we have all grown up and are subjected to more of the words and promises of being children given from the media and all those who profit enough from it to control behaviors and use it to showcase their opions on us now were tired of it like were tired of u2 always being there we've grown up and out of the searching consumer enough to form our own opions i hard to be a consumer of everything there offering and getting so little value for a dollar which is used to exploit ones personal life to there own egotistical version of them selves that never seem to go away and leave us alone to solve all the problems they created for us while letting us know just how real they are in lives by potraying their ownselfs were tired of it from before and know these things they used to persuade us to consider their opions we didn't get much from it and now its getting late

I understand your point, but please how come most of you call U2 a shitty band when many bands form your lists are worse then u2. Maybe within last 10 years U2 haven't released a decent album, maybe they are overrated but they managed to record several good albums in the 80s and 90s. You'd better stop being music ignorants.

erduprince frankly, i did like their album "boy"...wasn't truly brilliant, but nonetheless, it did have a certain youthful charm...after that, everything got worse and worse...sometimes, with the help of a skillful producer they managed to find back some of the magic...but in reality, the little boy was no longer little and had become a full blown evangelist...

Hatred is too strong a word as it implies emotion. I just find U2's music dull, pretentious, humourless, irritating, bombastic and most of all overrated, which is the fault of critics and fans. While their later material is shit, it's the earlier albums I cant abide, the chiming flanged guitars and anthemic choruses. If they were moderately successful with the odd silver disc I wouldnt be bothered. It's because millions have been mug enough to buy their crap and make them one of the biggest bands ever that's the problem.

juantxorena I don't hate U2 because of their music or their members (I don't like them neither). I hate them becuase is just another mainstream pop/rock group, completely forgettable, boring and uninnovative, the kind of group that the average mother and average high school teacher that tries to be a buddy of the students with lame effects knows as "rock" and "youth music". They deserve to be another one-hit wonder, with a 2nd place in a MTV list of one of their singles and a couple of gigs in the popular music festival or music awards ceremony like grammy. They haven't done anything special in music to be remembered, apart for being another name in the billboard lists. That's why I don't understand what so much people like them so much, and that's why I hate them. But there is one thing that is even more hateful than U2: the fans.

U2 are just one of around a dozen acts whose music to my ears is like having root canal work without an anaesthetic. Then there's the self given nicknames, the holier than thou sermonising and Bono's politicising. His vocals are just plain shit and without all those effects Edge's guitar work is simply cack.
