Description:
Viking Age is the term for the period in European history, especially Northern European and Scandinavian history, spanning the eighth to eleventh centuries.

Scandinavian Vikings explored Europe by its oceans and rivers through trade and warfare. The Vikings also reached Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland, and Anatolia. Additionally, there is evidence to support the Vinland legend, that Vikings reached farther south to the North American continent.

But the actual picture used here is one from Sutton Hoo, which is Anglo-Saxon rather than Viking. Would you not be better having an item that relates to Vikings rather than Anglo-Saxons? Like this for example http://www.culture24.org.uk/asset_arena/1/46/06/260641/v0_master.jpg which is definitely linked to Scandinavians in the Viking Age.

"I just see it and think Sutton Hoo rather than Scandinavia. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutton_Hoo With its historiated die-struck panels of tinned bronze and assembled mounts the decoration of the helmet is directly comparable to that found on helmets from the Vendel and Valsgärde cemeteries of eastern Sweden. hese features have suggested an English rather than Swedish origin for the non-decorative basic structure of the helmet; the deep cheekpieces have parallels in another English helmet, found in York, the Coppergate helmet.

Just curious, I never really associate those kind of helmets/masks in the group picture as Viking, I thought it was more an Anglo-Saxon thing. Did the Vikings use them too? I am not stupid enough to think they had the horned helmets (even if they do look epic). I know it's about the same time period too. I just see it and think Sutton Hoo rather than Scandinavia.
