Favorite Video Game Soundtrack?

Mine is Final Fantasy III/VIj, especially the Opera House and the Overworld theme.

Followers are pretty much everything by Sakimoto. BoF5, Vagrant Story, FFT, FFTA.

Mine would be the "Final Fantasy 7 Piano Collections". I do not own a lot of OST's yet, but i just love these beautiful arrangements.Some of the tracks have a few strange movements, but everything fits like a glove :-)

7's piano collection didn't appeal to me as much as 6's, 9's, or X's. It might be because I played those more, but I just can't get into a few tracks on 7's like Rufus and Cosmo Canyon. Although the Aerith's and the Main theme are both awesome.

Mine are Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, the FF games (particularly 5, 8, and 10), and Atelier Iris ETERNAL MANA (absolutely fantastic!).

mine would be the FF soundtracks particularly 7, 8 and 9. plus the Legend of Mana soundtrack. and i have to agree with ~langdonx that the non-disney tracks at KH is awesome.

i also love the Wild Arms Vocal Collection and Potions I and Potions II. they're not really soundtracks but they're vg albums.

And www.vgmix.com would be a good place to go as well. I personally like vgmix better. OCR judges don't share the same views with me, thus most OCR songs being bad in my books.

I'd say Nobuo's work on Final Fantasy 7 & 8 are my favorites.

Recomendations:

Final Fantasy VII: Piano Collections
Main Theme - Calming.. happy in a sad sort of way, makes you want to go and play 7 again.
Aries Theme - I was once asked to name an unnacompanied, sad piano piece that beats this... and.. there isnt anything... Just.. you have to hear it, and know Aries to really get how sad this song is... amazing.

Final Fantasy VIII: Piano Collections
Blue Fields - The World Map theme, I really love this.
Balamb Garden - Another personal favorite, very calming and soothing.
Fishermans Horizon - is makes me want to play 8 again and again, sinply increddible.
The Oath - Classic Final Fantasy.. urgh increddible.
Science And Motion - Well.. whoever chose for this to be on the Piano Collections is a GENIUS, a definate stand out track

Final Fantasy VIII: Original Soundtrack
Too many to put the highlights but.. Liberi Fatali (sp?) is amazing.

A tie between the almighty Deus Ex and Final Fantasy IV. No boss themes can surpass the beauty that are Boss Battle, Fierce Battle, and Zeromus' Theme.

Klonoa 2: The Veil of Lunatea, by far one of the most visionary and aurally most spectacular games I've ever played. The music is simply fantastic. I recommend it to anyone with a like for orchestral music especially.

The Final Fantasy VII soundtrack is nothing special in my opinion. However, the Final Fantasy X soundtrack is brilliant and I love it to bits.

My favourite game soundtrack, though, is Silent Hill 2 by Akira Yamaoka. This soundtrack is beautiful, melancholic, and chilling at the same time.

I would say that X's has too many skip songs, such as the sonf of prayer etc however, It's definatly a very good soundtrack.

As for Silent Hill 2 if you like that kind of thing, you might perhaps enjoy the Donnie Darko soundtrack, its pretty Melancholic and a little creppy at times but, none the less still something very enjoyable.
