    Does anyone know of any tattoo artists within the UK who use vegan ink? I won't be getting tattooed any time soon unless I find one.

    Most ink is inherently vegan-friendly. I have several tattoos, none of which I encountered any difficulties getting.

  • I think you'll just have to ask around. I once heard you couldn't find vegan tattoo ink in the UK, but I don't think that's true.

    Maybe your best bet is to find vegans in your area and ask them where they got inked?

  • Most tattoo ink isn't vegan. Most tattoo ink has glycerine in it.

    Stable ink is vegan you're correct, but most tattoo artists don't use it. I am waiting to hear from my tattoo artist as to whether she is willing to tattoo me with that ink. Most tattoo artists are very funny about the ink they use obviously.

    The vegans I asked, don't see it as a problem getting tattooed with non-vegan tattoo ink. I had enough arguments about this last week.

    has some interesting info. as far as vegan studios in the UK, or at least that use vegan inks, really not sure. London convention is coming up, might have to do some asking...

  • I am tempted to go just to ask around. But people are so rude about it. I did email my tattoo artist but she hasn't got back to me. I am crossing my fingers she can help me out. I want to cry at the idea of never getting tattooed again. I have too many plans.

  • Someone I know (who is vegan) recommends Flamin 8 in Castle Road, Kentish Town. She has quite a few tats and they're all great.

    anyway, i'm having trouble here in the states also though the artist i want to go to is very receptive to it. she's looking into a source so when she gets back to me i will post something in here

  • I have asked my artist about using Stable Ink but she still hasn't got back to me. If I have to get my own ink and take it to tattoo appointments so be it.

    Same here! Talk about something that never would have occurred to me... Anyway, I realize this is only tangentially related, but for anyone living in Arizona,
    Inkaholics Anonymous tattoo studio in Tucson claims that their ink is 100% vegan. I personally don't have any tats but have considered it for a number of years, but it's good to have a heads up if I ever find myself with the money to do it. Best of luck, shesbenevolent!

  • Well i think i'm gonna make a point of contacting some of my local tattoo places and see what they can offer. I live in Scotland so i wonder how easy it will be to find a place that does this ink.

    http://www.stablecolor.com should be available in the uk. of course, it looks like you already found out about it. looks like they will only sell to artists in tattoo shops though so make sure you talk to your artist.

  • Also found out somethin today that the Vegan ink isn't as good as the normal ink and would only look good for a few years. Also if you have dark skin it doesn't really work well. Anyone else had similar experience with the Vegan ink?

  • I've been tattooed with Stable ink now. I think the rumour you heard about the quality is just that, a rumour. All tattoos can end up looking bad after a few years if you don't heal them carefully, leave them to get damaged by the sun, and don't moisturise them.
    Mine looks great.

    That's great. I don't know if you've heard from her yet, but http://www.stablecolor.com, are an American company and their ink seems to be good value for money.

  • I may be a bit late but there are several places where you can get tattooed in London where the artist uses vegan ink and/or are vegan themselves.
    Simon at Jayne Doe in Romford is vegan and carries vegan ink, likewise for Don Holmes at the Family Business tattoo studio in central London.
