Group for users of the Vagalume client

This is a group for users of Vagalume, a client for GNOME-based environments.

Vagalume was originally designed for the Nokia 770/N800/N810 Internet Tablets, but it works in any Unix-like system (GNU/Linux, BSD, etc.). There is also support for the Moblin platform and MS Windows.

Vagalume is free software released under the GNU GPL.

I've had an N9 since launch yet Vagalume is still my favourite N900/N9 app. I don't like Vagalume, I love it! =)

Well... Now it doesn't work at all. That may be all she wrote.

This may be true, but I have both Vagalume and Scrobbler installed on the same laptop that I'm typing on now and the Scrobbler still works like before. However, Vagalume 'works,' but it only plays. Meaning I can hit play. Literally Play. Whatever the last station I listened to on the Scrobbler, no matter what computer either, it'll play that, but nothing else. I've uninstalled it, re-installed, all that jazz. Same behavior on other computers. Something has definitely changed. But yeah, technically, it still 'works.' Maybe others are having better results though.

Vagalume does support the new protocol, it has been doing it for years. If you can't listen to the radio please read the first entry of the Vagalume FAQ:

Radio changes to from Tuesday 15 January 2013. There's a group dedicated to 'the effort,' but it's more about showing that people are dissatisfied with the changes. I am not a programmer, so correct if I am wrong, but my understanding from the Cobolt guys is that the new protocol is fairly strict and basically not setup for free streaming globally.

Got a mail from on November 21st: »We're writing you to let you know that there will soon be a change to radio that may affect you. Our stats show that you've listened to radio through an application that uses our old streaming protocol. On 1 December we will deprecate this old protocol, so in some applications radio will no longer work.« Seems, that Vagalume needs to support the new protocol, but it's preety quiet on the developers maling list , last entry is from March 10th …

Yeah, is killing itself. Or rather, is doing what it can to survive in a world still largely controlled by outdated innovation hindering Capitalist models of copyright and outright Greed. The legal online stations are going down, but all that is going to do is spawn more pirate stations. Competition is there. The demand is there. But so is price fixing and it's simply too high for online radio to be sustainable.

I've never had any problems with Vagalume on Fedora (15,16,17) works like a dream. However (from today) has streaming now stopped from lastfm to Vagalume? In November LastFM informed me that the streaming protocol will change. Has anyone else experienced this?

Maybe it's just me, but the player is a pain in the ass on Fedora. Still prefer Guayadeque as a jukebox-type player, but for a simple streamer that scrobbles on Fedora, this and Pithos are my go to's. Good Stuff.

I'm loving Vagalume on Arch Linux; it works perfectly. Does anyone know if there's a way to get the information that's currently sent to the notification daemon (title, artist, album) to conky? I've looked at vagalumectl, but it doesn't return those things. Or is there a temporary "nowplaying" file a la shell-fm? If not, maybe I could just add it myself.
