Suggestions

Please post any and all ideas you have for improving/extending the True Current Stats tool here. I welcome all ideas...but can't promise any will come to fruition ;-))

Also, if you're a developer and would like to develop some of the suggestions here as an addition to my tool, I'm definitely open to that.

Hmm, just had an idea...

I don't know about everyone else but I'm often interested to check my charts after they get officially updated. However you don't know when that's happened because there's no notification to do so, it's just a pleasant surprise when you open your profile page and there's a new "Last updated" date. So if I made it so that everyone (or just those interested) registered their email addresses on the site, the True Current Stats tool could send you an email to let you know that your official stats have been updated. Would anyone use that?

The same kind of concept could be used to let you know when a certain artist reaches 1000 plays or whatever, and what song from that artist was the 1000th play. Would anyone use features like that? I reckon they'd be cool.

Please let me know, if enough people are interested I'll do it.

That sounds like a great idea, I'm all for it,

Not sure how much space it would take on your site for all of us to post our emails, but just in case it's too much, could you just send this whole group a PM instead?

Also, on the 2nd suggestion: maybe we could get emails when we reach milestones in tracks played? Such as the 10000th track played and which one it was.

Hah, I knew someone would say that.

That's a different kettle of fish, unfortunately. With the artists 1000th play or whatever, I already have that artist's play count stored within the tool, so it's easy to check.

The overall play count however is not so easy to get, as the tool does not already store that. I can get the overall playcount information from the profile.xml on the webservice, but unfortunately that isn't always up to date, so it probably wouldn't be right anyway. As far as I can tell, the only way to do that is to actually get the user's profile page and rip it out of that, which takes a lot more processing. I've been able to do it, but I can't enable it for everyone because it would just take too much time & resources on the regular updates.

Once again, this is a feature that could easily be included when the tool is running on multiple servers with small amounts of users.

maybe TCS week change should be synchronized with official one? i mean, tracks scrobbled between TCS update (Sunday about 12-00) and official update (Sunday about 24-00) will remain for the whole week bringing confusion

the official update is sunday 12:00 !!! It just takes a while to update your profile, but the week according to last.fm starts halfway through sunday and ends there as well...

Hey there!

Right now the number of milestones displayed of all artists is 50. That's a lot for sure, but the one thing is that artists are listed in alphabetic order (so many artists cannot be part of that listing), and the other thing is that, to my mind, it would be nice to only show that last, current milestone of each single artist. Moreover I would like to know if there is a chance to sort these milestones by time, and not by artist, so that the statistics could ever be renewed automatically?
