Hottest 100 of 2009. Your shortlist?

It's such a long year and I always forget about the songs earlier in the year by the time voting comes around. I really should make a playlist on iTunes from January, I always attest to it, but it never happens. So, I'm making sure I take a squizz at all of your shortlists before I cast my votes, to make an INFORMED decision. I've only had my laptop since about June, so I only have songs from then, plus a few albums I uploaded.

    My shortlist:

    Animal Collective - My Girls
    Animal Collective - Summertime Clothes
    Animal Collective - Brother Sport
    Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars
    Bat For Lashes - Daniel
    Dappled Cities - The Price
Dappled Cities - The Night Is Young At Heart
The Decemberists - The Rake's Song
Decoder Ring - Let A Thousand Flowers Bloom
    Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks
Grizzly Bear - While You Wait For The Others
    Howling Bells - Digital Hearts
Josh Pyke - You Don't Scare Me
    Kasabian - Fire
Leader Cheetah - Fly, Golden Arrow Pt 1
    The Middle East - Blood
    Phoenix - Lisztomania
    Phoenix - 1901
    Red Riders - Ordinary
Royksopp - The Girl & The Robot
    Royksopp - Happy Up Here
    Sarah Blasko - Sleeper Awake
    Tame Impala - Sundown Syndrome
    Umpire - Streamers

I just know I'm gonna end up with enough songs to make my own Hottest 100, but I know of some I will cut already but anyway.

  • #1. Phoenix - Lisztomania
#2. Animal Collective - My Girls
#3. Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning

    #9. Julian Casablancas - 11th Dimension

I think this too. Most of my favourite albums I really loved all the tracks and there wasn't as many stand alone tracks. Definitly a good thing though.

    My votes in alphabetical order:
Daniel Merriweather - Change (Ft. Wale)
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Home
Florence & The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
    Jamie T - Earth, Wind & Fire
The Maccabees - Love You Better
Metric - Gold Guns & Girls
    Passion Pit - Little Secrets
    Red Riders - Ordinary
Sarah Blasko - No Turning Back
The Vasco Era - For No One

  • Bon Iver - Blood Bank
    Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy
    Matt & Kim - Daylight
    Miike Snow - Animal
Temper Trap, The - Down River
Tim & Jean - Come Around
    White Rabbits - Percussion Gun
    XX, The - Islands
    Yeasayer - Ambling Alp
Yves Klein Blue - Getting Wise

so difficult to cut it down!
but i agree, bulletproof just makes me nauseous now

  • I had to include some songs I loved at the start of the year, but really hoping Florence has a song in the top 5. I could've used six of my votes just on them. Also wanted to add some Whitley, but no space, and Bertie Blackman's Like A Version song, but wasn't on the list so figured it would be a wasted vote.

Wish JJJ had've given more airplay to the new Editors album this year, as it's not going to do well since no-one's heard it!

Fever Ray - If I Had A Heart,
Fever Ray - When I Grow Up,
Florence + the Machine - Dog Days Are Over,
Florence + the Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up),
Lisa Mitchell - Romeo & Juliet (Like A Version),
    Metric - Help I'm Alive,
Mumford & Sons - Little Lion Man,
    Passion Pit - Little Secrets,
    Peaches - I Feel Cream,
    The XX - Islands

  • Bon Iver- Skinny Love
    Crystalised- The XX
    Gold Gun Girls- Metric
    Passion Pit- Sleepyhead
    Miike Snow- Animal
Rabbit Heart- Florence + The Machine
    Cheerleader- Grizzly Bear
    The Only Exception- Paramore
    Undisclosed Desires- Muse
Walking on a Dream- Empire of the Sun

    Miike Snow - Animal
Grizzly Bear - While You Wait For The Others
    Animal Collective - My Girls
    Dappled Cities - The Price
    Red Riders - Ordinary
Leader Cheetah - Fly, Golden Arrow Pt.1
    The Middle East - Blood
    Phoenix - Lizstomania

and I know I voted for a Sarah Blasko song, but I have no idea what #10 was.
