Down By Law, a film by Jim Jarmusch.

A very good movie, and our good friend Mr. Waits got top billing. Has anyone seen it?

  • I haven't seen it yet, but it's top of my list.

I also heard that he played a role in "The Outsiders"... true?

"There ain't no devil, there's just God when he's drunk."
  • It's at the top of my list too! Jarmusch also used him for a segment in Coffee & Cigarettes. And yeah, he's in The Outsiders. Quite a versatile actor!

  • I just saw down by the law tonight, great movie. Never gets boring listening to his voice.

  • Absolutely brilliant film.

Great film, with that classic Jarmusch-dialoge-awesomeness. :)
Waits, Benigni & Lurie make a great trio.

Well this movie is one of the masterpieces of jarmusch...no action,no nothing, but as said, never gets boring, moving along from the prison to a swamp prison, yeah, this I'm glad he's movies are so underrated, cause the damn critics can't explain why they're so good.

  • For sure, it is a great film. Tom sure has a presence I guess is the right word, every time I have seen him in any scene from any of the flicks he's made, he demands attention. Personally I love him in Bram Stoker's Dracula, brilliant role brilliantly played.

  • Down By Law is fuckin' brilliant
    just like every Jarmusch Movie

    we await silent trystero's empire
  • 'absolutely brilliant" <-- couldnt agree more.

all its metric and lurie, too <3

one of the best of the bests.

  • I own this movie, as well as Coffee and Cigarettes.

Waits also does a cameo appearance in the film The Fisher King, one of my all-time favourites.

It's in my DVD collection, really like the movie!

    And Coffee and Cigarettes as well, ofcourse. :) Jim Jarmusch knows his job;

  • Re: Down By Law

Awesome. Absolutely hysterical. Tom Waits rocks a hairnet for longer than anyone should possibly be able to. Jim Jarmusch's concept of John Lurie, Tom Waits and Roberto Benigni in a jail cell is utter genius.

  • I am watching it as I type this.! It's awesome! He just helped Bob cross the river after escaping prison. :)

  • does anybody seen Rumble Fish from Coppola?

    we await silent trystero's empire
  • It's good, not great. I'd give it an 8/10.

I'm not much of a Jarmusch fan but Dead Man is brilliant.
