  Anyone who rates Neil Diamond needs to get their act together and get a concert ticket for his tour. Saw him last weekend at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Outstanding concert..... fantastic band and he is singing even better than ever..... fabulous...

  I'm a lot more familiar with Christine's version of Songbird. But then I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan. I remember leaving the stadium with Christine's version still in my ears... (what a way to close!) Only heard Eva's version more recently. To me its just a copy :-) There are a few Bob Dylan song like the "cover" versions more than his; not sure if that's because I heard them first - or is he a better writer than singer? (e.g. Mr Tambourine man)

  Might well be something in what you say, but you also have to remember that it was Christine who wrote the song, so have to ask, who recorded it first. Eva's version is of course the most well known. :))

  Eva Cassidy has an excellent voice - but I like Christine McVie (Fleetwood Mac) singing "Songbird" more - just feels like her song. Do you think we always prefer the first version we hear or are there songs people hear but prefer a later version???

  Eva Cassidy's versions of Over the Rainbow & Autumn Leaves bring tears to my eyes and her albums are all worth listening too...yes a lot of songs are covers but she sings them in her own sweet way...jazz, pop, gospel, folk and blues. A voice and a guitar, for me spellbinding!
