Kurt is my favorite singer, but no doubt Chris Cornell is the best.

    1) Cornell
    2) Cobain
    3) Vedder
    4) Staley.

In terms of range and technical skill, it goes:

    1 - Chris Cornell
    2 - Layne Staley
    3 - Eddie Vedder
4 - Kurt Cobain (last by a lot)

However, my personal preference is Layne Staley by a long shot. Followed by Cornell and Vedder, whose voices I like almost equally. Kurt Cobain is my least favourtie singer out of the four.

    3) Eddie Vedder
    4) Kurt Cobain

It's hard for me to choose between Staley and Vedder, but Cornell is definitely on top and Cobain at fourth.

  • 1. Vedder 2. Cornell 3. Cobain 4. Staley

  • 1. Staley
2.Cornell (he could be first, but this timbaland shit...hell no!)
    3. Vedder/Cobain

  • 1) Vedder
    2) Staley
    3) Lanegan, Cornell, Cobain

  • i have no doubt, cobain is fourth. First cornell, and i can't choose between layne and vedder. So it is:
    1. Cornell
    2. Stanley/Vedder
    4. Cobain.

Back in the day, Cornell was the best when it came to skill. But my fave is Eddie Vedder, followed by Cornell and Staley.

  • -Cornell (obviously the best technically but there's also a lot of emotion in his singing too, sometimes not perceived because of the impressive technical skills, but there's even emotion in his screams, which is something)

-Vedder (great emotion and he sings better and better everytime)

-Staley (great voice though it was over by 1994 unfortunately)

-Cobain (incredible anger and a kind of timeless seriousness in this voice but not particulary impresssive and can't compare to the others)

This is why I would definitely put Mark Lanegan before Cobain

    I agree.
& let's not forget Jerry Cantrell. Personally, I think the harmonies between Staley & Cantrell's voice are a great deal of what makes Alice so compelling.

  • 1. vedder
    2. cornell (but only the old one)
    3. staley
    4. weiland
