Your favorite movie dance scenes?

  • Your favorite movie dance scenes?

Music and movies go together. Sometimes the music takes center stage as the subject of the film or featured prominently in key scenes, instead of being a backdrop. Every once in while these scenes make a long lasting cultural mark on cinema. There are many great and classic dance scenes such as "Singin' In The Rain" and "West Side Story" among others.

To me, Quentin Taratino creates interesting soundtracks for his films, and seems to squeeze in a memorable dance scene. Some of my favorites are from Pulp Fiction, Dusk til Dawn, and Deathproof. I know that, at least in the last two, the scenes may be more memorable than the movies themselves.

Here are my postings of these scenes in my journal:

What are your favorite dance scenes in the movies?

  • Yep, I was gonna say the scene with Vincent and Mia in Pulp Fiction. Another one that sticks out in my head is the part in 'Across the Universe' where the army guys are dancing to the Beatles song 'I Want You/She's So Heavy.'

  • and the another clasical dance is in Scent of a Woman. Al Pacino who is blind man is a great tango dancer..

  • Patrick Swayze

I loved the 80's and especially patrick swayze in "Dirty Dancing" he moves so well and smooothly, and also loved him in the film "Ghost" that was such a beautiful moment.

    I still am. :)

The dance sequences in Top Secret and Airplane! are both awesome too.

  • Not exactly a "favorite", and I never saw the movie "Guru", but I happened upon this while searching for movie trailers...

    BluesRok / Jay
  • Travolta and Uma in Pulp Fiction

  • the tango in Moulin! Rouge danced to El Tango de Roxanne is awesome!
one that is super funny is in the movie Hot Rod called the punch dance and is a spoof on the dance in Footloose which is a great dance btw.

Some people are like Slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Although I didn't like the movie, the final dance scene in Step Up 2: The Streets was very impressive:

Britney Spears' cameo in Austin Powers in Goldmember:

    And, of course, Napoleon Dynamite:

    That's funny...I wish I weren't in 2009 America and I wish I were too young to remember anything from the '80s. ;-)
