hey guys, a little bit of a different post here.

i recently came across a couple mixes i made for a friend after he went through a rough break up. in the end, i decided not to give them to him, and just put them in a drawer.

    the mixes are entitled
    The Night & the Clouds

A New Day With Clear Skies

if anyone here has recently gone through a break-up, i'll mail them to you.

if there's no heart-broken takers, then i'll mail them to anyone who's interested. ;)

listen to the noise i make and leave me a comment about it.

hey Vitreus, those look like some good mixes, and you put a lot of work into them. Any chance of a digital upload? Otherwise I'll be happy to take them, upload a copy, and give them to a friend who just broke up her engagement.

PS: love the use of marker and the burned edges

My summer has been amazing so far, namely because I've picked up going to raves... all sorts, big ones, small ones, out in the desert, etc. Also, I've been going to clubs and partying every week since june.

June, EDC, Electronic Daisy Carnival, biggest rave on the west coast of the year. 2 days of incredible acts, I partied for 24 hours in 12 hour increments.

Partied the next weekend with friends

the next weekend, went to Arizona for more raves! I partied till 4am thur, fri, sat, feels like I've been nonstop

the nextweekend, I partied some more, 2 days straight of of dancing and checking out the scene.

And next week I'm headed to Vegas, with family, but my personal main event is the Jump Smokers album release party, a group I've recently become a fan of.

so here's a little bit of summer to share with you guys:

    1. Soundtrack - No Obstacles, Only Challenges (0:45)
    2. Jump Smokers - Love Of Electro (3:35)
    3. DJ LoGoS - 05. DJ LoGoS - 14 - Mstrkrft feat. John Legend - Heartbreaker (Laidback Luke Remix) (2:20)
    4. Laidback Luke - My G*O*D - Guns On Demo (SonicC Remix) (2:27)
    5. Muse - Cydonia (John 00 Fleming Wizzy Noise Rework) (4:38)
    6. Infected Mushroom - Bust a Move (4:03)
    7. Bulletproof (Nacey Remix ft. Matt Hemerlein) (3:04)
    8. Diesel - Randajad (3:07)
    9. Daft Punk - The Brainwasher (3:24)
    10. The All-American Rejects - The All-American Rejects - Gives You Hell (The Bloody Beetroots Remix) (4:29)
    11. Dj Tiesto - Nyana - Cd 2 - 03 - Andain - Beautiful Things (gabriel & Dresden Remix) (3:29)
    12. Tiësto Feat. Calvin Harris - Century (4:42)
    13. VV Brown - Leave (Featuring Little Boots) (3:51)
    14. Bedrock - Heaven Scent (3:02)
    15. John O'Callaghan Feat. Sarah H - Find Yourself (Cosmic Gate Rem (3:33)
    16. Jack Beats - Wheres My Money (Caspa Remix - Jack Beats Re-Edit) [Full] (4:02)

    18. Jump Smokers - Slow Jam Mixtape (Feat Twista) (3:47)
    19. Rihanna - Russian Roulette (Smoke Jumpers Edit) (3:13)
    20. Taio Cruz Ft. Flo-Rida - I Just Wanna Know (Remix) (3:59)

A mix of electro, trance, dubstep, house, and the current trend in America, the movement towards electronic. Until recently, it seemed there was no electronic on mainstream radio stations, now the beeps and boops are taking over the airwaves. Rave culture is also becoming more mainstream, with the underground rave scene here being inflated. The normally hiphop clubs are getting more and more EDM, and I for one am having a great deal of fun.

Btw, anyone here like lightshows? haha, I've been spending much of my time doing gloves and orbits, I'll post a youtube later.

Thanks to: George for using Brainwasher in his lack of brain mix.
Thanks to: Leonrivers for his awesom electronic mix that kept me and my friends company in the Arizona desert. Do you know of any good programs for cross fading?

Hope you guys find something you like
disclaimer: many tracks have been clipped, a slightly modded here and there for the purposes of making a single mix. I attempted to max a mix that would've mixed well if I had the ability, but I guess everything is subjective.

Not sure where this should've went, so grab bag it is. I think it could've fit in genre samplers.

Theme suggestion: sum up your summer? make a mix that will be your souvenir and tell us why it's important/awesom. I think it'll be fun.

yeah all my "hard copy" mixes get that treatment. the presentation is a very important part of giving someone a mix, especially if it's stuff they're not familiar with it. not only do they go "hot damn that looks awesome, i wonder if it sounds as awesome as it looks?" they go "damn, he spent a lot of time making this for me, that's touching" and also "damn, he spent a lot of time on this for me...i sure as shit better listen to it". ;) been a sharpie artist for going on 10 years now, so i've got a few tricks in my bag by now. ;)

send me a PM with your address and i'll drop them in the mail tomorrow.

i don't have the playlists anymore, but i'll see if i can recompile and upload.

listen to the noise i make and leave me a comment about it.

    Long names

Made a mixtape with only long-titled songs. Well, some are long, and some are not so long, but long enough.

    Long Names

    1. Sufjan Stevens - The Black Hawk War, Or, How To Demolish An Entire Civilization And Still Feel Good About Yourself In The Morning, Or, We Apologize For The Inconvenience But You're Gonna Have To Leave Now, Or, "I Have Fought The Big Knives And Will Continue To Fight Them Until They Are Off Our Lands

Just had to start with this one. It's the longest title I know of and I think i read somewhere (wiki?) that it's the longest title ever. However, it's a two-minute song, instrumental and pretty good.

    2. Fuck Buttons - Flight Of The Feathered Serpent

I've been using this track a drug for the last year. It's not so hard to understand.

    3. The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Part 1

    4. Saltillo - A Hear On The Head Of John The Baptiste

A really cool tune, it's kind of a spoken-word lyric, except that the lyrics are sampled from Shakespeare's Hamlet. Along with the soothing music, it gets pretty brilliant.

    5. 65daysofstatic - Install A Beak In The Heart That Clucks Time In Arabic

    6. Radiohead - Packt Like Sardines In A Crushed Tin Box

    7. Bosques de mi Mente - Cuando Se Hayan Ido Todos, Tan Solo Quedara El Crujir De Sus Columpios Al Viento

I have no idea what this means, and I'm too lazy to look it up. Translation, anyone? However, the track is entirely piano.

    8. Interpol - Stella Was A Driver And She Was Always Down

    9. Yann Tiersen - Comtine D'Un Autre Été: L'Après Midi

The best track from his Amelie-soundtrack is also the one with the longest name. So, I had no choice.

    10. Kaiser Cheifs - Everyday I Love You Less And Less

    11. Mogwai - Stupid Prick Gets Chased By The Police And Loses His Slut Girlfriend

One of the best titles in my library. Pure awesomeness.

    12. The Dead Texan - A Chronicle Of Early Failures Part 2

    13. Stereophonics - I'm Alright (You Gotta Go There To Come Back)

    14. Laura - It's Kind Of Like The Innocent Smiles You Get At The Start Of A Relationship Before You Fuck Everything Up

And finally, my favorite song on this tape.

    Good weather for airstrikes.

  • This is a mix for my dear friend Kylie. Snoggums is her online alias I suppose you could say, and when I did a Google search, the image below appeared. Although, another friend girly-fied it for me.

    I present: Snoggums

    Download Link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/h85jos

Basically, a happy, girly, upbeat mix featuring two very awesome covers. Part two will be posted either later today or tomorrow, and will be the complete opposite of this mix.

    01 Domotic - I Hate You Forever
02 Franco Battiato - Ruby Tuesday
03 Bend Sinister - Happiness is a Warm Gun
04 Neko Case - People Got a Lotta Nerve
    05 Sarah Harmer - Lodestar
    06 The Decemberists - 16 Military Wives
07 Paola - Yours to Keep
08 Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes - Home
09 The New Pornographers - Streets of Fire
    10 Metric - Love is a Place

  • This is part two in the Snoggums series.

It has a completely different sound from the first. I try to balance songs that explode in intensity and songs that show a lot of restraint. It has a bunch of recent and old favourites of mine that I haven't had an excuse to use until now. Not sure what Kylie will think, but hopefully she will enjoy it.

    Download Link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/u617wt

    01 Battles - The Line
02 Fever Ray - When I Grow Up
03 Florence + the Machine - Heavy in Your Arms

    09 Bat for Lashes - I Saw a Light
10 Black Mountain - Night Walks

  • Jeff Lewis

I went to see Jeffrey Lewis in concert last night. He played with 60s psychedelic musician Peter Stampfel, and it was a lot of fun.

Would anyone mind making me a Jeffrey Lewis mixtape please? He's released a lot of material and I have no idea where to start.

    Thanks in anticipation!

  • I'd like to give that a try 'cause I like Jeffrey Lewis a lot and I think I've checked out a lot of his records, my favorite album is It's the Ones Who've Cracked That the Light Shines Through. :) It's a lovely title to begin with haha.

    Here's a link to a new upload!
I'm glad you likes the mix, especially since there are a few songs with swedish lyrics.

  • Thankyous!! :D

And here's for georgethe23rd: Jeffrey Lewis!

I actually wasn't sure about the entirety of his discography, but yes it is pretty big to say the least. Outside the whole antifolk scene he's pretty well known also for a huge part 'cause of his neat artwork, but I think I first got to know him back in 2006 when the No LSD Tonight song got included in a compilation made for me. :) Still one of my favorite tracks.

So now I've compiled this mixtape, and it exists out of songs taken from 9 of his albums, I've tried to include a lot of different records, also to show the slight variations in style here and there, the many collaborations, but in the end it's just like the Radiohead mix I made a long while ago: these are my favorite Jeffrey Lewis tracks, but still I'd definitely highly recommend it to everyone.

1.2 hours long, big enough I'd reckon. :D Enjoy!
