This group is for people who worship the unique vocal style of David Lambeth Yow, the vocalist in Scratch Acid, The Jesus Lizard and Qui.

Scratch Acid was an Austin, Texas noise* rock group formed in 1982. Originally consisting of Steve Anderson (vocals), David Wm. Sims (guitar), Brett Bradford (guitar), David Yow (bass), and Rey Washam (drums), Anderson was kicked out before they recorded an album, prompting Yow to move to vocals.

The Jesus Lizard formed in 1989 in Chicago, Illinois, following the breakup of Scratch Acid, after David Yow met guitarist Duane Denison. Ex-Scratch Acid bassist David Wm. Sims was recruited for the project, the trio called themselves The Jesus Lizard. The band took their name from a common nickname for the basilisk, a type of lizard that can run on water. They using a drum machine for their earliest recordings and performances, before adding ex-Mule drummer Mac McNeilly to the line-up. While never finding much mainstream success, The Jesus Lizard have been called "a leading noise rock band in the American independent underground...turn[ing] out a series of independent records filled with scathing, disemboweling, guitar-driven pseudo-industrial noise, all of which received positive reviews in underground music publications and heavy college-radio play." The band was very influencial with members of Nirvana and Helmet amongst others being avid fans.

Qui was founded in 2000 by drummer/vocalist Paul Christensen and guitarist/vocalist Matt Cronk in Los Angeles, CA. In late 2006 David Yow joined the band after performing with them at numerous shows as a guest vocalist.

*Labels blow! If you call Scratch Acid noise rock, what do you call Sonic Youth or Skinny Puppy? Maybe Scratch Acid are pioneers of "jazzcore"? Whatever you call them they were revolutionary!

    The Jesus Lizard was my first real concert, at the Outhouse, in Lawrence, KS, July of 1992. I was 12. I like to think of this as a formative experience. Additionally, in 1996, I was fortunate enough to meet these guys while doing "junior press corps" coverage at Lollapalooza for my local paper. Mac McNeilly was super nice and answered a silly 16-year-old girl journalist's questions for almost an hour. I want to express gratitude to the band for making their excellent music and for being so cool to their fans; I hope that David is on the mend and that everyone else is leading happy lives, too. Cheers to all of you fellow appreciators out there!
