  if you don't love any of his previous film, the tree of life will seem to you nonsense. you should try it I think.

  Seeing Tree of Life on Friday--I can't wait! I haven't seen any other Malick films though... should I try to watch a couple before then to get a sense for where he's coming from? Seems like a film like ToL will speak for itself... but I'm also worried that if I watch ToL first and love it, then his other films won't be nearly as all-encompassing and will seem to fall short :\
