  • Indie band Panda Transport video filmed by Grey's Anatomy team at Air Hollywood.

    2 Mar 2011, 10:09 by pandatransport

    http://vimeo.com/20159171
Sound and vision take sensuous flight in the official music video for
Panda Transport's "Saint's Revel". Panda Transport are American chanteuse
Kathy Compton and French multi-instrumentalist Thierry Holweck.
Their music has appeared on American primetime television programs,
including the popular medical drama Grey's Anatomy (ABC Television Productions).
    Directed by Justin Chinn.

Saint’s Revel is the first of a pair of adventurous music
video collaborations between Justin and Panda Transport.
Backed by a production team culled from Grey's Anatomy, Saint's Revel
is the poppier, glitzier component of the series.
The forthcoming second installment, Dark Horse, shot in Lyon, France,
will portray the sombre, more experimental persuasions of the band’s sound.
  • NEW TRACK: Mini - Grunt & The Son Of Captain Blood

    4 Jul 2010, 16:22 by funnyfarm

The Reel Banditos have released a new single called "Mini - Grunt & The Son Of Captain Blood". The song is a part of the "Indochina" concept album the band released in September 2008.
"Mini - Grunt & The Son Of Captain Blood" is dedicated to Sean Flynn and Dana Stone.
Here's the sory behind the song:
On April 6, 1970 the photographers Sean Flynn (son of legendary actor Errol Flynn) and Dana Stone disappeared after traveling on motorbikes across the Vietnamese border into Cambodia to report from the war there. It is supposed that they were arrested by the Viet Cong and handed over to Khmer Rouge. Some sources claim that they survived in captivity until 1975, although other more likely sources claim they were killed roughly six months later.
Get the song here at iTunes, or any other download store.

  • Filewile «On The Run feat. Pedro Da Silva Pinto» released today

    28 May 2010, 20:21 by mwrecords

Filewile clearly had an excellent time touring South Africa for the "Blueskywell" album release last winter. They felt well at home inside the dancehalls of Jo'burg, Cape Town, Dar El Salaam and Maputo.

As Filewile are not a band drawn to hanging out on the beach for long, but always eager to collaborate on yet another dubbed out venture, the follow up to the last single "Number One Kid" was bound to happen: A sun trenched Reggae tune full of soul and troubled lyrics in the finest conscious Reggae tradition. Uncertain if the trouble comes from a torn soul, torn country or both, "On the Run" tells of broken hearts and broken homes in troubled times.

Hailing from Mozambique, singer Pedro Da Silva Pinto (frontman to the band 340ml) masters a silken voice that mingles beautifully with Filewile's knee deep Reggae and Joy Frempong's floating backing vocals.

The b-side carries a classic Dub version of the same tune. Heavy steppin' up in this!

  • Filewile Album - Blueskywell - Out Now!

    15 Nov 2009, 17:36 by mwrecords

With the new album, Filewile have made the transition from dubby laptop duo to a dub driven band. Along the way, Filewile integrated the raw power of their live performances into their production methods. They now thoroughly cherish the imperfections of analogue instrumentation, tape machine and the iconic Space Echo. At the same time the human voice has moved centerstage in the Filewile sound - being used and abused as a musical instrument all over the album.

    Press Quotes:

Musicweek UK: Filewile tap into the madcap genius tradition started by
    fellow swiss agent provocateurs Yello….

Der Bund Switzerland: …Ihr neues Album ist ein Meisterwerk mit Hit und höchst holprigen Beats…

    Strangefruitmusic UK:
they actually do sound weird but in a good way…So if you think you are ready for something that kinda sounds familiar but turns out to be something completely different I suggest you check ‘em out!

    music.ch:
…Alles närrisch gut und autark. “Blueskywell” ist der Pop des
    nächsten Jahrzehnts…

Mahoganyblog USA: …So instead of breaking the adjectives out, have a listen for
yourself and think Groove Armada meets Erykah Badu after
    they split a pill….

Themahoganyblog: …So instead of breaking the adjectives out, have a listen for yourself and think Groove Armada meets Erykah Badu after they split a pill….

Neue Luzerner Zeitung: …Gut gepolstert, mit starken Basspulsen, vielseitiger Stimme und urbaner Aufgedrehtheit.

Flyglobal UK: …And if you can imagine Ozzy Osborne doing 8-bit cover versions of Augustus Pablo (not as bad as it sounds), go for ‘King Of The World’. In fact, this could be the track of the album but there’s some stiff competition with Joy giving her best Grace Jones impression on ‘Iron Lady’ that gets a guest appearance by another FLY favourite, RQM) .

The melody in Panda Transport's latest single
"Transmission" seems to float on a viscous stew of synthesized sounds
and rhythms. This bubbly binary brew is the perfect medium for the
duo's catchy melodic lines, silky, if familiar, harmonic rhythm, and
airy vocal tones. The combination of real, that is, acoustic
instruments and electronic sounds is seamless, and each sound supports
the tune's infrastructure as it builds, gurgling and popping like a
thick lava flow growing slowly and gracefully.
"Transmission" is a morsel from this unlikely
duo's album, "Plush Mechanique," an apt name for the soupy mix of
traditional and computer music. The two artists, Kathy Compton and
Thierry Holweck, met over the internet; she an American jazz and pop
composer, he’s a Frenchman and master of the virtual music world. What
would seem to be an odd mixture turns out to be a successful experiment
in music-meshing and genre-bending. Panda Transport has already found
commercial success in America with "Transmission" being featured on
Grey's Anatomy. Their new EP "Monorail" will be released this fall.

  • Free download of Electric Blanket's new Single - I Hate Sundays (Radio Edit)

    10 Jul 2009, 18:42 by mwrecords

Electric Blanket's recent single «My Eyes My Heart» became somewhat of an indie-hit at radio stations from the North Sea to Lake Geneva. While being on tour with their current album «How Much Peanut Butter» the Swiss Indie-Pop-Combo now launches another single, «I Hate Sundays (Radio Edit)». The song is available as a free digital download on electricblanket.ch or last.fm and is Electric Blanket's way of saying "Thank You" to the people who are supporting them by buying their music. As its name suggests, the song is a hymn to sundays' depression and at the same time, a wonderful cure to it.
