The last.fm group for the facebook group of the same name with the aim of getting as many new and different bands and artists in the UK top 40 as we can in the same week....

We've collected applications from more than five hundred bands and musicians on independent labels or no label, hoping to make our final list of 40, who we (as a group of tens of thousands) will try to get in the charts later in the year.

Badger is exactly right. If you click the "unique to this group" list, some of you might find it a bit more interesting - those are the bands we listen to, that other people don't listen to. I wish it defaulted to that position!

I think the chart here is calculated on number of users listening to X or Y band in a given week, rather than plays of individual tracks or artists.

@alcuinsa: yeah, i've tried to "storm" our group charts by listening to 1 artist 5 times in 1 week, but it hasnt worked

Seems the Group chart bears little or no relation to our own charts.

Thanks for your support everyone. Now, I just wanted to say last.fm calculates its group charts on Sundays (though it doesn't necessarily update on the page the same day) - don't be alarmed, now that we've got a few more members, if a few major label or chart artists suddenly start appearing on ours, group members are fully allowed to listen to whatever they want and a lot of mainstream music is good in its own way anyway. But I'm hoping our last.fm group radio is going to have a really good mix.
