Description:
For those eagerly awaiting the release of the Bioware/Lucasarts MMORPG "The Old Republic"

Many dedicated fans of the legendary Knights of the Old Republic series met the news of an MMO based around the KOTOR saga with disappointment. I was a little unsure myself when I heard the game would be set three centuries after Revan and the Exile's mysterious journies into the unknown regions. All the characters we know and love from KOTOR will be distant memories.

That said, the prospect of an ultra-large scale, story driven MMORPG based on the KOTOR saga (hopefully not too loosely) is hugely exciting.

There's a long wait ahead. So lets try to make that wait less painful with some TOR/KOTOR discussion and general Star Wars funnery :D

Speculative discussion is especially welcome.

http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/706470/BioWare-Announces-Star-Wars-The-Old-Republic-Will-Feature-Space-Combat.html - This is really grand and mind-blowing news. Just thinking that TOR will probably be the largest game ever :D 14 playable planets already revealed (and counting?), and now the ability to roam and fight in space as well. The scale of epicness is going to get insane with this game... And we're only dealing with the basic game - during the years there might be expansion sets...

Holy moly what a blast the latest update is! Talking about "Music of The Old Republic" of course! I love the fact that Mark Griskey is the leading composer for TOR as well.. Hopefully they'll release the soundtrack as a purchasable CD along with the game. Resplendant music ahead as heard in that little "demo".

I don't know if one can make any conclusions via a demo. I'll reserve my judgement of possible similarities for the day I actually play and see what's the "finished" game like :)

About characters: yes, I DO agree! K1 - memorable and unique. K2 - deeper and more realistic. :P I shall do as you wish, then, and stop whatever arguing you saw in our posts. About playing the game, I don't know actually. I'm a university student, and I cannot waste all my time (or money) on the game. If there is going to be a monthly pay, I'm out of TOR. If only one big sum, I'm playing it! ;D

That is... as if Revan had known about the True Sith somehow. At least he remembered them again after the events of K1 and left to fight them, and left Carth to lead the Republic forces, Candy to lead Mandalorians and HK-47 to solve things up with its successor droids (Restoration Mode <3), counting on Exile to become the leading Jedi, etc. Full battle alertness. Revan must have known of the True Sith. :)

Now did Revan? I don't know the facts. At least Obsidian marked the Mandalorian Wars as a masterplan of Revan, though, preparing the galaxy against the big war that never came on K3. :( Conflict makes one cautious and strong, as one of his teachers once taught him... Well, I agree about character designing (minus Kreia, the best gaming character ever IMO), but still I think characters on K2 are deeper and better, more realisticly written. They're not as flashy as on K1, except maybe Atton who is the humor sidekick one. Also, HK-47 has gone wise and philosophical, which still takes nothing away from its ultra-awesomeness... :D G0-T0 is about as bad ass as HK-47 on those rare spots around the galaxy where it can shine. Also, the necessary wookiee of the party is great on K2 but boring on K1. Anyway, I love both games, and I'm planning on playing them through many times in the future to come. :)

Wild_Karrde... Revan created Mandalorian Wars in the first place. It was all just a side show. :) He needed to test the known galaxy against each other so that they could be strong enough to face the True Sith in the future... Alas, that future was taken away from us, as the upcoming MMORPG doesn't cover the story like Obsidian wanted it to be covered. :(

Because they made the Revan the mastermind character around whom all the events in the galaxy revolve in K2, without even physically showing him (that vision Revan on that Korriban tomb doesn't count :P). Heck, you should pay more attention to Kotor 2. :)

I think it was. It was so fitting. The only one that could have stopped Nihilus. The one that was the key for Kreia to come out of hiding. It also explained us why the characters evolve in a role-playing game such as it, plot-wise! I believe none game has ever done that. Also, I think Obsidian created about 80% of Revan's awesomeness, not Bioware. :)

Whoops, kinda forgot the timeline for a second... Such a wizard, Revan, if he's still affecting everything after 300 years. :D

And fuck them if they do a decent storyline. It should be an Avellonian masterpiece if we wanted it to be worth following the ingenius of K2. :D Revan still being the mastermind of everything that's happening in the galaxy even though it wouldn't look like it, and such. You know...

BTW, Obsidian made Revan into the most genius character in gaming history. Also Kreia, Exile and G0-T0 can be seen as such. So fuck that "no-one ever heard of Revan and Exile again" nonsense.

Even the two KOTORs don't work on my PC (laptop) at the moment, and I think that's because my video card was missing some <Something> & Lighting stuff that most games don't require but KotORs do. :( I think I have to buy one more good PC in my life so that I can play TOR. :)

I wish I had a decent PC. Fuck those bastards for not making it for 360. FUCK THEM.
