Biography:

Behind the name STAROFASH is musician and songwriter Heidi Solberg Tveitan, also known as Ihriel from the experimental metal act Peccatum. After several years of releases and tours in Europe and USA with Peccatum, she debuted as a solo artist in 2001 with the record “Iter.Viator” (Jester Records/VME). In the years following “Iter.Viator” she has been busy with the last Peccatum releases, the Hardingrock project and have together with Vegard Tveitan been running the production company Mnemosyne and Symphonique Studio. In addition to this she has actively worked with band tutoring and concert arranging for youth in her local community.

The debut album ITER.VIATOR was described as a melancholic movement over strings, guitars, keyboards, drums and voices, resulting in a fine blend of esoteric rock and soundtracks. It pushed the boundaries of traditional genre categorization and instrument usage, while remaining true to a soulful pattern that is Heidi’s alone.

On her new album, THE THREAD (Candlelight Records/Mnemosyne Productions), Heidi’s collaborators include the German musician and composer Markus Reuter and the Japanese cyber-punk writer Kenji Siratori. Musically this album explores new ground in instrumentation and structure, yet continues the cinematic and elegant atmosphere of previous recordings. Over constantly changing sonic sceneries, the compelling melody is still the leading thread from beginning to end.

Glad to see someone made a StarOfAsh group! I think we should ask Last.fm to merge the 2 profiles: "Starofash" and "Star Of Ash" At the moment all the info about StarOfAsh (such as track titles, scrobbled tracks, albums) are really screwed up, and it's definitely a bad thing, new listeners may be confused. However, I bought the Ulterior OST yesterday. I'm scrobbling it right now. I didn't watch the movie but I'm really enjoying the soundtrack. The frist tracks maybe are way too silent, but after half of the soundtrack it gets really cool, mysterious, almost eerie and unpredictable. And oh, the package is pretty damn cool, chek it out! ;)

@Rionka: You should buy the album :p According to the booklet, grimen means fiddler. Fossegrimen is "a fiddle playing, supernatural being believed to dwell beneath waterfalls. A better fiddler than any human being, he is said to have taught the very best fiddle players in Norway in exchange for a sacrifice." By the way, thanks for your compliment, but I didn't start this group. I just took over leadership duties when the original founder decided to ditch his Last.fm account. Although I'm surprised that I managed to get seven new members in only about two months.
