For all fans of Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble Of Shadows.

Behind this name is hidden the most inusual artistic mind of our century: Anna/Varney. But...
who is him/her?

Unfortunately we don't have many information about him/her but, here you are what we collect from the official interviews.

First of all Anna/Varney let understand to don't have had a good childhood: he/she was depressed since he/she was six. He/she tells also that his/her parents beated him/her and at school he/she never felt well. At the age of 20 his/her depression took him/her near suicide and because he/she used to avoid the sunlight,he/she got ll.In the same period he/she started to hear,in dream, the sweet melodies of the Ensemble of The Shadows while he was trying to sleep to avoid the pain.

We don't know the identity of the members of the Ensemble:

Anna/Varney claim that they
are a sort of Muses,the spirits who help the musicians.

So he/she started his/her rebirth in a new creature between woman and man. He/she changed his/her name in Anna/Varney (From "Varney The Vampire" by Edward Lloyd)to evidence his/her duality.

After his/her reborn he/she take the "Saturnian Path",where put his/her music, under the astral influence of Saturn.

The Sopor Aeternus musical project was born in 1987 in the goth club "Negativ" in Frankfurt. There he/she met Holger and for two years he was envolved in the project. We all know the rest of the story: he/she started his/her career by publishing his/her first demo-tape:"Es Reiten Die Toten So Schnell ",the first of a never ended trilogy, followed by ten wonderful albums and a side-project with Costance named "Nenia C'alladhan".

Only God knows what the future will bring to this wonderful artist named Sopor Aeternus....
