Should Soma be getting scrobbled?

  • Should Soma be getting scrobbled?

'Cause I'm listening through iTunes now and my plug in isn't picking it up. Is it meant to?

From what I know, the scrobbler plugins don't scrobble webradio anymore. Though I'm not exactly sure why.

  • The audioscrobbler documentation says that the plugin isn't supposed to submit tracks that come from internet streams, because the user doesn't have control over what is played and what isn't.

    This is too bad. :(

  • I think it should be! It's just like listening to recommendations at last.fm - here, you don't have much control either (apart from skipping songs, maybe). I listen to "indie pop rocks" because I like the music: half of the tracks they play are familiar to me, and the other half are so rightly picked that I keep on coming back :)

I think last.fm should scrobble all my music intake!

I think it would be nice is Last.FM scrobbled internet radio stations period. I want people to know what I listen to. They don't necessarily need to scrobble the track.

Depending on how it's set up though, it probably would scrobble the track. Last.FM could scrobble the track and then say "via [Internet Source Here]"

  • yeah you're right, the idea is pretty good i think O:

i'm listening a lot to webradios and there is a lot of music i really like but i don't have the mp3 or whatever. so it would be nice if last.fm would scrobble webradios. and if there is a song you truly don't want to have in your charts you can delete it anyway.

  • yeah! i totally agree... scrobble that shit!

  • Internet radios should be scrobbled

I reckon Last.fm represents not only what the user proactively listens but also all the other music that he/she hears and therefore is influenced by.

Its not a matter of how the music is transferred or heard, the main point is that it is heard.

The listener usually can block out tunes that he/she doesn't like. And even though if the listener hears a tune that he/she doesn't like, its still being listened to.

So, after all that not-so-logical chitchat, SCROBBLE SOME SOMA, PLEASE!

  • I can't think of a better way to use Last.fm than to add "love" or "recommendations" for songs I hear in the SomaFM Digitalis stream!

    When?

    When?

    When?

I certainly agree that SomaFM should be scrobbled, but my guess is that SomaFM will have to improve the metatags in its streams first. I can't seem to get distinct track/artist/mix/album tags anymore...

    That would be super nice.

  • Ok....

So What are we waiting for?!

    Lets do it!

Fly to live... Live to fly...
  • This software RaimaRadio support Last fm... scrobble the songs , but not in "real time", it just add the songs to your library.

  • I wish internet streaming radio would get scrobbled. I listen to soma.fm about 80% of the time, so my scrobbled music, which doesn't pick it up, isn't 100% accurate as far as my listening goes. Ya know?

Yes, I'd certainly love it. But I don't really see how that could techically be possible... by now...

    Heck yes.

Half of my music comes from webradios, and I also tend to listen to certain genres on certain stations (like groove salad). These tracks are not getting scrobbled, and so it's screwing up my stats....

  • I don't think Last.fm considers music from internet radio stations to be any less scrobble-worthy than your own playlists. The submission protocol specification explicitly lets you set "Non-personalised broadcast (e.g. Shoutcast, BBC Radio 1)" as the source of a scrobble.

It's not really me, it's just a bunch of gnomes, working very well together
  • Heck I'd be fine with it scrobbling just "soma.fm" or "Groove Salad - soma.fm" or something to that effect... it wouldn't bother me if each track was not scrobbled but just scrobble the fact that I am listening to a stream would be cool.

Amarok 2.1 scrobbles soma.fm netcasts per default.

  • Yes, Amarok does that now. I'm happy :D

Or using the newest Foobar 2000 solves the problem :-)

Anyone know if there's been any progress in getting some other major players plugins to scrobble soma.fm, such as windows media player, or itunes?
