    Your top 5

Let us know which 5 releases you consider to be the best of 2010. Second last week of december is the final point to post your list so for now there's no rush.
Anything ranging from neofolk over neoclassical to martial, the format is also unimportant so you can enter CD, EP, 10", ...
We'd like to know which releases defined 2010 and hope to see posts from all of you !

    cheers to all of you,

    kim

    1. Across The Rubicon - Who Doesn't Listen To The Song, Will Hear The Storm
    2. Spiritual Front - Rotten Roma Casino
    3. Sect - Babylon Rising
    4. Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio - Do Angels Never Cry, And Heaven Never Fall?
    5. Von Thronstahl - Conscriptvm (dispite the fact I got a little dissapointed with it)

Probably my list will change after the new ORE album comes out, but for today here it is.

    Cheers

  • - Apoptose - Bannwald
    - Arditi & Signa Inferre - Statues Of Gods / Invictis Victi
    - Penjaga Insaf - Sama Sadja
    - Peter Andersson - Sculpturing Time Fragments
    - Simulacra - There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood

  • To be quite frank, I only bought just the one lately.

Across The Rubicon - Who Doesn't Listen To The Song, Will Hear The Storm

I am still buying loads of powerelectronics etc. via my discogs account, so I haven't got round to it in all earnest. Besides, I quite like those very bombastic, heavy-laden stuff, such as (everything from) Triarii. I usually steer clear from neofolk-inspired martial. (a bit too soft for me, if you pardon my french)

I could always do with a few pointers to get me really going in the genre, though. Anything that's comparable with ATR, Arditi,Triarii, Karjalan Sissit or Wappenbund would me most welcome in my library.

As a (fecal) matter of fact, there's a crock of shit at the end of every rainbow.
  • Excellent releases in this thread.

I'm still unsure what would round out my top 5 however...it would probably be something out of these so far:

Ante Bellum - Siglo XIX (2010)
    Allerseelen - Rauhe Schale (2010)
Across The Rubicon - Who Doesn't Listen To The Song, Will Hear The Storm (2010)
Argine - Umori d'autunno (Il filo spinato e le bolle di sapone) (2010)
    Atomtrakt - Sperrstelle Nordost (2010)
Awen - The Bells Before Dawn (2010)
Blood Axis - Born Again (2010)
    Gnomonclast - Tempus Null (2010)
    Luftwaffe - Ere I Perish (2010)
Nihil Novi Sub Sole - Jupiter Temple (2010)
Orchestra Noir - What If... (2010)
Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio - Do Angels Never Cry And Heaven Never Fall (2010)
Rome - Nos chants perdus (2010)
Sinweldi - Acta Fabula Est (2010)
    Von Thronstahl - Conscriptvm (2010)

There are still quite a few records I have yet to hear.

I know what would be my biggest disappointment:

Spiritual Front - Rotten Roma Casino.

Nice to see another Power Electronics freak here. Concerning martial : you might try out Seinsvergessenheit or Weihan. Both bands are Belgian, the latter doesn't seem to be active anymore. They released two albums. "Galder" is more neofolk orientated and will most likely not appeal that much to you but their "Symphonies of Divination" cd might be just the thing for you. Try them out.

Thanks for sending those, guys ! I'm still waiting for two albums to be released before i make up my list. One of those is the new cd of The Wyrm, to be released soon on Global Hate and the other one is, of course, the new Arditi.
    Keep 'em coming.

    My top 5

Well, here are my top 5 Martial/Neoclassical/Neofolk releases of 2010, but in no specific order:

Nihil Novi Sub Sole - Jupiter Temple
    Luftwaffe - Ere I perish
    Westwind - Ravage
    Apoptose - Bannwald
    Atomtrakt - Sperrstelle Nordost

I also appreciate the new Across The Rubicon, Dernière Volonté and Rome - and if Arditi were a bit faster with their new release, it would have been no.1, I'm quite sure about that. Well, still some time left until the end of the year...

  • Well,well...
my top 5 albums(and various artists) for this year definetely are:
    1.Von Thronstahl - Consciptvm (2010)
    2.Spreu & Weizen - Gott erhalt's! (2010)
    3.Allerseelen - Rauhe Schale (2010)
    4.Stormfågel - Eldvakt (2010)
5.VA-Sturmreif - The New Underground Of Military Pop (2010)

  • Alright then, before 2010 fades away...

My top 5 are these :
    - Les Jumeaux Discordants : Sang pour Sang
    - Spreu & Weizen : Gott Erhalt's
    - Across the Rubicon : Who doesn't Listen to the Song...
    - Nihil Novi Sub Sole : Jupiter Temple
    - Le Dédale Des Maudits : Brille au-delà du Temps

I hope to see some more additions in this thread before the last six days of 2010 have passed. A quick glance at the posts here already reveal the top albums of this year, hopefully some more surprises can be added.

  • Hi everyone,

hope you all had a good time the past days and that 2011 started off well for all of you !
Here's the overview of what 2010's best releases were. I've opted for the less habitual format of a top 4. The first three albums all had differents rankings but the 4th place saw 5 Artists all sharing two votes, the rest only got 1.

01 : Across the Rubicon - Who Doesn't Listen to the Song, Will Hear the Storm

02 : Nihil Novi Sub Sole - Jupiter Temple

    03 : Luftwaffe - Ere I Perish

The following albums share the 4th place :

    Spreu & Weizen - Gott Erhalt's

Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio - Do Angels Never Cry And Heaven Never Fall

    Rome - Nos Chants Perdus

    Von Thronstahl - Conscriptum

Death in June - Peacefull Snow-The Maverick Chamber

Somebody please shave off that godawfull moustache...
