Helsinki-based powerquarter Smak defines on their second album "Elohopeaa" (eng: quicksilver), what youths passion to music and hard work can do to a band. There has been a dramatic development both in their songwriting and playing in the past few years from their debut album, and the development is surely astounding and impressive. Produced by heavy-guru Anssi Kippo, Elohopeaa sounds heavy and sturdy. Band actively follows the musicmarket overseas and has drawn influences especially from emo-/metalbands. Eventhough the bandmembers have listened their share of Billy Talent and My Chemical Romance, Smak has its own unique style. Using Finnish language combined with Kalle's voice guarantees a sound, that can be recognized as Smak.

Smak doesn't bow to radiostations' demands of short and compact songs, so Elohopeaa introduces also long and multiphased compositions, that challenge the listener to concentrate and seek. Catchiness has always been a part of Smaks essential elements and it stays that way. Three singles that have preceeded the album have all been radiofavourites and succeeded in single-salescharts. When the albums hearingexperience is combined with bands ferocious stageact and -experience, you don't need to be a fortuneteller to see, that now is Smaks time for their final breakthrough.
