• Ambient & Electronica by Michael Brückner - an update

    21 Aug 2014, 13:54 by BruecknerSound

    Dear electronica fans,

after a rather long absence from LastFM (may have been three years or even more) I'd like to report what happened in the meanwhile in my musical world.

Since this has been quite a lot, I'll try to keep everything as brief as I can, rather hinting with some links at single events; if anyone should have any further questions, I'll be happy to elaborate in detail on anything, if requested...

For those who don't remember me here (...or never heard of me in the first place) a brief introduction:

I'm composing, producing and performing electronic music since 1992. While the center of my creative output is certainly ambient / atmospheric electronica, I've also streched out to any other electronic style I can think of, for example dance, drum'n'bass, new age, electro, Berlin School (space music), or those new names for old shoes like psychill, psybient or psytrance - but also pop, rock, jazz, even metal - and more. All in all, most of my albums feature an ecclectic mix of styles, and it's rather difficult to pin my stuff down to any specific genre.
Maybe I can add that some listeners (and reviewers) compared some of my music to Robert Rich, Steve Roach, Klaus Schulze, or Future Sound of London, Underworld, sometimes even Aphex Twin and Mouse on Mars (all of which indeed are artists I'm very fond of...).

During the past 22 years I have created more than one hundred (that's 100 ;-) ) albums (and full lenght albums at that - meaning at least 70 minutes, then again some are actually sets ranging between two and ten (!) hours of music...).

Most of my music is self-released (You can still order any of my albums directly from me...). More recently, I'm happy to also have released some projects on different labels.

An overview over most of my output can actually be found here on LastFM (last update was in late 2012 so far, but I'll maybe do another soon...):

Michael Brückner - the (almost) complete catalogue

Many of my albums also are on LastFM, and (still) most of them are pre-listenable from here (although I might change that as I will rerelease them via Bandcamp in the future...). See here:

    Michael Brückner

OK, now where to start with what happened...?

First of all, after many years of being laregly a very obscure artist with only the tiniest bit of followers, I've finally started to be recognized on a (slightly) larger scale; some landmarks that made me evident for me (for example) were:

    - being nominated twice for the Schallwelle-Award, a German award for electronic music; I didn't win, however reached number three twice, in the category "best album national" in 2013 and "best musician / act national" in 2014 (referring to the previous year always...) - actually doing better than some famous acts like Schiller or Klaus Schulze...

    - having one of my tracks inlcuded to the large Pete Namlook tribute CD box "Die Welt ist Klang" on CarpeSonum Records

    - receiving positive reviews, or interviews / features on various webzines, or even print magazines

    - being invited for collaborations with many artists, resulting in some long-term musical partnerships, like with drummer Tommy Betzler, noteably for his early 80ies electronic prog band P'Cock and his work with electronic pioneer Klaus Schulze on several large live events (plus, in more recent years, drumming in Tangerine Dream member Thorsten Quaeschning's project "Picture Palace Music")

Then I'd like to highlight some album releases (not all, though) since 2012, in (more or less) chronological order; I'll link to YouTube trailers (as far as they exist), otherwise to Bandcamp (from where usually a preview file, and sometimes even whole albums, are streamable...):

One Hundred Million Miles Under The Stars (2012)

    Eleventh Sun (2012)

    Naura (2013)

    In Letzter Konsequenz (2013)

    Thirteen Rites Of Passage (2014)

    Ombra - Revisited (2014)

This release (a limited edition of 100 copies) actually includes my first ever industrially pressed CD - among other items... can find more releases on Bandcamp, and more music on YouTube.

From mid 2012 on also live performances became more regular (especially in 2013); here are some clips, again in chronological order (length and sound/video quality varies, but I think they at least will give You an idea...):

    RaumZeit Festival Dortmund, 2012

Ambient Performance at BetterLife Akademie, 2013
(...the whole of it, in two parts, actually)

Live performance at Ritter Butzke (a club in Berlin), 2013
(, that was an especially cool evening)

Live performance at the church St. Peter, Frankfurt, 2014

Finally, some links to reviews and articles about my music...

    Entry on WikiPedia (German only):

    Entry on Discogs:

Well - this much for now; I'm aware it's much indeed, however please keep in mind that I had to make up for a long time, and in that time, there happened a lot.

Actually, as much as I've put in here - it's only part of all that happened, and I could write at great length on many of those points at which I've just hinted here...

    In any case:

Thanks a lot for Your attention, and if You've listenend to some of the music, I hope You did enjoy it!

    13 Jan 2014, 11:33 by vfsix

In space of VFSix passed a symbolic 12 years cycle. Our musical project grew from three musicians to tens, have gone beyond the borders of Moscow and a light trip-hop style frame, and have got the name V.I.C Sound. We were engaged generally in writing music and getting it through to our listeners, who could download our tracks for free and got gift CD's at our concerts. Now we have a good experience of working with record companies, publishers, distributors. The main conclusion is: the most fair and transparent way is to do everything by ourselves, independently.
Therefore we invite all our fans to our online store, where you can listen and download tracks of all our projects. All new music will appear first of all here as well.
Purchasing on the site you can be sure that all money goes directly to authors and performers. And now a choice where to search and download our music is yours.
    Have a good listening!

  • Vladimír Hirsch : Missa Armata . Invocationes

    6 Sep 2012, 09:02 by JanBlanicky

Vladimír Hirsch : Missa Armata . Invocationes - Ars Benevola Mater, Sept.6, 2012

    TWO albums in ONE !

The album contains two thematically similar works, original version of the battle Mass Missa Armata (English translation: "Mass in Armor") and Invocationes, a cycle of musical prayers. Both works belong to the larger main directional scope of Vladimír Hirsch's creative perimeter. In a musical context, they represent theconfrontational nature of his music. The character of rites is the main axis of both compositions. As such, bothprojects fit naturally together.

Missa Armata (1999) is based on standard liturgical elements, except the final track "Exodus." The album however avoids using verbal singing of appropriate text as it is not a Mass itself, but rather, a narrative about the communication between its content the listeners' state of mind. Parallel to this, the album expresses afictional war story, where adversaries are forced to participate in a worship together. The composition is very strict and uncompromising, demonstrating a highly structured industrial sound combined with classical instrumentation and choirs, achingly electrifying noises and power-electronic force and energy. Approx. time 44 min.

Invocationes (2001) is a cycle of 4 ritualistic musical prayers. The project is - both thematically and in means of expression - significantly related to Missa Armata, but the overall character structurally aims more towards dark ambient. Compositions have a deep ambience with immersive emotional perceptions, without sparing any intensity and urgency. The composition is an introspective journey inside a tempestous and submerged world together. Approx. time 34 min.

Skladby s výraznou rituální charakteristikou, dominantním industriálním soundem a repetitivními vzorci rytmiky, s deklamovanou i zpívanou religiozní lyrikou (Sv.Augustin, Enchiridion Indulgentiarum), především v hutné dark-ambientní atmosféře. Intenzita a naléhavost, přesto introspektivnost a ponoření, to je výsledná substance této alchymické práce.

    Musicians and cooperators:
Vladimír Hirsch - electronic keyboards, synthesizers, vocals, integrated techniques, Tom Saivon - additional sounds, Martina Sanollová - backing vocals. Lyrics: St.Augustine, Raccolta (Enchiridion Indulgentiarum). Mastered by Vojtěch Haňka. Cover design: Marianna Auster.

    Missa Armata (43:11)
    1 Introitus (6:46)
    2 Kyrie (4:45)
    3 Gloria (6:04)
    4 Credo (7:10)
    5 Sanctus (5:38)
    6 Agnus Dei (7:27)
    7 Exodus (5:21)
    Invocationes (34:21)
    8 Invocatio I (7:37)
    9 Invocatio II (6:41)
    10 Invocatio III (8:19)

  • Tree Bosier - Anchoring Effect / That Sky & Noise Beats - VOID

    2 Sep 2012, 11:42 by FudoKazuki

This is a quick note about two recent releases, one was done as a support release for our partner label from Belarus, Ezhevika. The owner of Ezhevika is well-known to you as our roster artist Diamos Roll.
So, on 30 August we did this split release of

That Sky & Noise Beats - Void.

Ezhevika together with Ultra Vague Recordings present a split release by a Belarusian producer Alexander (That Sky) and a Moscow beat-maker Yaroslav (Noise Beats).

“We followed our favorite conception and recorded as much live instruments as we were able to: bass, guitar, acoustic, drums, piano and even violin in the most emotional track of the album Remember. Our most ambitious experiment is Great Hoax. It’s smooth, but at the same time very rhythmic, so we even put it through a test at the morning jogging! The album endures 20 minutes and something. We tried to make “compact” tracks, so that listeners won’t be able to understand the whole complexity and attraction straight away. You need to listen to this album attentively!”

    Tree Bosier - Anchoring Effect

Tree Bosier is a one-man project of Max Anant'ev. Broken hip-hop rhythm in the basis and , , , along with on top, that's the sound of it.
Anchoring Effect is a pretty interesting thing in pshychology. Sometimes you sit in your room or in the office or wondering through the forest, looking for mushrooms or just running down the street chasing a bus. There is a change of light, a smell of perfume or a music from some old TV show and everything is changing right away. You feel calm and nostalgic. I wish I could feel it more often in life, but it seems to me the only ones managed to control it are the capitalists trying to sell us things through TV commercials and billboards.
    - Max Anant'ev
