RESULTS: Top Shoegazing Songs

Back in January 2005 I started the thread titled Top shoegazing songs, and asked:

What songs would you play for someone if you wanted to introduce him/her to shoegaze?

The thread has been more or less alive since 2005, and one day i got the idea - why not use that thread to make a list of The Best or most Popular shoegazing songs? So I sat down for a few hours and listed every single song mentioned in the thread, and also how many times they were mentioned.

AHH. Love you for going through all the trouble in making this. It's amazing stuff, sounds great!

What were you planning on doing with this? Is this just for fun?

I always thought it'd be cool to have like a chain letter kind of thing...but instead it'd be a mixtape that gets sent around, with new tapes, track list, and music stories being added to the deal and traveling about, person to person.

Love my superstitious games.

Thanks. I think whats good about the list is that people had to write down their own favorite tracks, instead of having to choose or eliminate.

An interesting thing is that some bands that are less frequent on the song-list did really well on the band-list (Pale Saints, Cocteau Twins, Swervedriver etc). It's because so many different songs were mentioned, there were no real stand-outs.

Yeah, Olznillz! A tape recorder with tapes get sent around, and if people wish they like, add more to it and send it to the next person. It would work strictly on a trust system (as in plz don't lose/keep tapes & other shit to yourself!) but I think it could work.
