Shoegaze Recommendations

  • Shoegaze Recommendations

I like Lush, Slowdive, My Bloddy Valentine and Loop can someone recommend me more bands. :)

"You're all the same, the lot of you, with your long hair and faggot clothes. Drugs, sex…every sort of filth. And ya hate the police, don't ya?"-Electric Wizard

"The most important part of my religion is to play guitar." -Lou Reed
  • Sure thing.

For more rock-oriented shoegaze, try Swervedriver, A Place to Bury Strangers or Ride.

For more dreamy/poppy stuff, try Cocteau Twins, Chapterhouse (Whirlpool is the most shoegaze'y) or Pale Saints.

Drop Nineteens, The Telescopes and The Radio Dept. might also float your boat.

Could do a good few more looking at your taste so just say so if you've heard them all or want more :)

  • Listen to:

    - tears run rings

    - Daniel Land And The Modern Painters.

Los frutos tardíos son los más dulces.
  • -Catherine Wheel

  • For me the best are Slowdive and Cranes but also brand new bands like Chromatics and Wild Nothing.
But I would suggest you an italian band called Stella Diana [], it's probably the most serious shoegaze band in italy :)

The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa - Susurrate & Pigment EP
    Pale Saints - In Ribbons
    Pink Playground - Destination Ecstasy
Pinkshinyultrablast - Happy Songs For Happy Zombies EP
    Stella Luna - Stargazer
Swirlies - Blonder Tongue Audio Baton
Tears Run Rings - Always, Sometimes, Seldom, Never
    Whirr - Distressor EP

  • Everyone should give The Depreciation Guild a listen. They're like 8-bit/shoegaze. In Her Gentle Jaws is probably my favorite album by them.

Kitchens of Distinction have some of the lushest soundscapes I've heard so far.
    Particularly Strange Free World

  • I did actually make a two-part YouTube playlist for this very reason; it's quite lengthy, but if you have the time and are still interested in finding more material, head on over:

  • Check out my band I love Slowdive/MBV/Ride, hopefully you can hear the influences.

  • children of leir

you might be into our stuff..maybe more Spacemen 3 influence than shoegaze...

  • you might like the new Crisis Arm full length

  • the daysleepers

  • I see Warpaint tagged as shoegaze, would they fit into this category? if so I would highly recommend them to anyone.

  • another Crisis Arm release from 2013, released on New Year's Eve!

  • - Fuzz

    - The Underground Youth

    - Screen Vinyl Image

  • Omega Vague

Omega Vague's self titled album is what music blog Lonesome Noise calls "utterly fucking beautiful" with elements of Chapterhouse, Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine. Hear it and buy it here: Omega Vague

  • Chapterhouse, The Jesus and Mary Chain (though some people may not consider them exactly 'shoegaze'), Cocteau Twins, etc etc.

Can this be a recommendation thread in general or just for SaintVitus-fan? If so can anyone help me find more bands like Pasteboard, a mix of really relaxing shoegaze in a dream pop fashion, that's the best i can describe it sorry. gives me nothing but Japanese recommendations but I'm looking for similar bands in regard to their musical style not the country of origin, thanks a lot anyone.

And for you SaintVitus-fan, I recommend Young Prisms and their album Friends for Now.

Also check out Nothing's album Guilty Of Everything, my current shoegaze obsession.

I just don't care if it's real, that won't change how it feels~
  • Zioluza, I am now in love with Pasteboard, thanks xD but it did remind me of Lush or Cocteau Twins even. Btw, a good shoegaze band from Japan is Supercar, especially their album Three Out Change, if you haven't heard of them before

  • The KVB - Immaterial Visions

  • Galaxie 500

    Mazzy Star

  • Secret Shine. Their album Untouched is one of my favourite shoegaze albums ever, criminally underrated.
