The genre reached its highpoint between the years 1988-93. Some of the most important bands at that time were My Bloody Valentine, Curve, Slowdive, Ride, Chapterhouse, Cocteau Twins and Lush. New bands that could be described as, or at least has elements of shoegaze are Amusement Parks on Fire, Hammock, The Radio Dept, The Big Pink, M83, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and A Place to Bury Strangers, etc...
