I support this idea, even if it may have originally been intended ironically(I hope not). People often say things for enthusiasts of some aspect of Japanese, or even Asian culture, to "be yourself, you are a American/Westerner/x thing here". Instead of doing what you love. And to stop loving Japanese things and "be yourself" instead, i.e. what they find to be culturally appropriate for your ethnicity. But that's not true, being a weaboo is who I am. And loving myself means accepting that part of who I am, not denying it because some people find it to be ethnically inappropriate.
