web service: http://scaicha.helld.ru/
code & download: http://github.com/scaidermern/scaicha

scaicha is a script to generate a pie chart of top artist tags similar to OMI. It is open source and written by scaidermern and Daemon_Hell.

The scaicha score is a number showing how broad your music taste is. Maximum scaicha score is 150.

Note: currently the web service is not available, charts have to be generated manually.

All pie charts are updated every week.

I have no detailed overview, how the program code works ... you have to sum "manually" after the download some of the tags (maybe you can ask the user scaidermern, who is the creator of the scaicha-code...) (http://www.last.fm/user/scaidermern)

Maybe anybody knows how to combine the same tags? Classical+baroque, for example.

It isn't so good way to using scaicha under windows: you get unsolvable problems with banned punctuation marks on this platform. I had upgraded to CentOS 6, and scaicha works extremly nice!

lastfm returns per default 50 artists (http://www.lastfm.de/api/show/user.getTopArtists) but you can change this in file "settings.py" from APT_URL "http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/2.0/?method=user.gettopartists&user=%s&period=%s&api_key=%s"; to"http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/2.0/?method=user.gettopartists&user=%s&limix=100&period=%s&api_key=%s";. do the same for the TAG_URL. CONCLUSION: just add "&limit=100" to the APT_URL and TAG_URL in settings.py (for 100 user...)

So it no longer works as a link, now requiring much more user participation? That's a shame for those of us wanting to kick back....

Answering my own question (thanks avukado): You have to edit the scaicha.py at line 138 and 144 and append ".encode("utf-8") to the entry[0] variable: New line 138: if not CGI: print "downloading tag data for", entry[0].encode("utf-8") New line 144: elif not CGI: print 'using tag data for', entry[0].encode("utf-8"), 'from cache'

Hi everybody! I'm desperately trying to run scaicha via cronjob, but it always quits with errors, when it comes to somehow special characters (german umlauts or japanese characters). Already changed the LANG, LC_CTYPE, LANGUAGE and even LC_ALL to "de_DE.UTF-8" (and checked it - it IS at utf8..) But it's still not working. When running manually vial shell, everything's fine.. :/ Can anyone help?

yeah right... "simple". gotta love ignorant nerds. you do know that python isn't part of a windows installation and probably 90% of the users here use that? and out of those 90%, i bet only 5% are willing to figure out where to get and how to install python and do what you described.

it's simple: (1) download http://choerbaert.org/wiki/_media/scytheman:zeugs:scaicha.tar (2) unpack (3) open your bash (or another console) and enter: python main.py -u YOURUSERNAME (4) upload pic somewhere (5) include pic-link in your lastfm-profilepage

  • sezzver

repeat: why R.I.P. ?!? you can download it from the URL above (http://choerbaert.org/wiki/en:scytheman:zeugs:code:scaicha) and create a PNG with your python-interpreter (description at the same page), upload it on webspace (e.g. dropbox, ubuntuone, ...) and then include the uploaded pic to your profilepage ...
