Samuel Osborne Barber II (March 9, 1910 – January 23, 1981) was an American composer of orchestral, opera, choral, and piano music. His Adagio for Strings is among his most popular compositions and widely considered a masterwork of modern classical music. Among his finest works are his four concertos, one each for Violin (1939), Cello (1945) and Piano (1962), and also the neoclassical Capricorn Concerto for flute, oboe, trumpet and string orchestra. Barber won the Pulitzer Prize for his opera “Vanessa” in 1958.

    Hey Gamester, thanks for the invite. I am currently checking out Barber and at the moment I really like his violin concerto and Adagio for Strings. Soon I'll be doing an orchestration of one of his piano Excursions. Perhaps I'll upload it here when I'm done.. :P
