    Worst Rush-album

Upon what we call in Dutch cursing in the church: what specific Rush-album do you dislike the most?

To get started I vote for Vapor Trails...
It is not sounding any kind Rush-like from my POV. I bought the album in the first weeks after the release, but could barely listen to it for 3-4 times...

(This is by no means meant to start a troll-discussion on one of the best bands known to mankind! ;-)

  • Vapor Trails is a common choice.

Oddly, I don't like Signals much. It's got some good tracks, but the bad ones stick out.

I don't like Subdivisions much, basically. The best one on there is Digital Man, closely followed by The Analogue Kid.

Some people often say Caress of Steel sucked. Those people are fools, and haven't heard The Necromancer enough.

    Airspace Falling - Free dro)))ne.
  • Vapor Trails is perfect... I always find myself listening to it. The Necromancer is playing now actually! It's a wonderful song, just get by the odd parts and it's great.

I enjoy everything Rush has ever done, but the albums I listen to the least would have to be Hold Your Fire or Roll the Bones. Both of them seem just... not as good. I will say that they are amazing, I just don't listen to them hardly as much.

  • There is no worst Rush album!!!! There is only Dog Years, and that is the only thing that can be included in a sentence with WORST and RUSH.

Some are born to move the world
    To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we'd like to be (Rush-Losing It)
  • I don't have all the Rush albums, but out of all of the ones I've heard, I just couldn't get into Presto.

  • Presto's not one of my favorite's, either.

Roll The Bones kind of holds a special place in my heart, because I saw them on that tour. And for some reason I didn't have it yet. Either it just came out or hadn't quite come out. We might have even been the first stop on their U.S. tour, as I recall.

In any case, you generally want to hear the standards, or at least the stuff you're familiar with. But my friend (who is even a bigger Rush fan than myself) and I were both extremely impressed by the Roll the Bones stuff they played. That really left an impression on me, and perhaps led to me liking the album more than I would have otherwise.

Agree x1000 about The Necromancer. I was beginning to worry that I was the only one who recognized all its greatness. Caress of Steel is in my top 5 Rush albums.

Signals was one of my first Rush albums, and I enjoy it a lot. But I can certainly see why it could be your least favorite.

My personal least favorite is Hold Your Fire. It's just a bit boring for Rush.

  • I don't know which is their worst, but my least favorite would have to be "Caress of Steel". Not that it's bad, but, at the risk of sounding cliche, it doesn't "move" me. I like "Bastille Day" pretty well, and parts of "The Fountain of Lamneth are pretty good, but overall, it just doesn't do much for me.

Listen to that song being mentioned prior to your post.

  • I think that "worst"is terribly subjective, but even more so for a band like Rush. Some fans like their more "rock" stuff and so will pick Presto or Signals as the worst album. Others are more into the "prog" stuff so they will pick Caress of Steel.

I like to see things in a positive light. Even their least popular albums have such incredible music.

Presto has Available Light. Roll the Bones has Bravado and Heresy. Hold Your Fire has Prime Mover. All are Rush in their top form on what many fans would consider lackluster albums.

If I really had to pick a least favorite album I would chose Moving Pictures (which will likely get me burned at the stake). The only song on that album that I really feel is The Camera Eye.

Ett hörspel av hornblås nu varslar om faran
När kristlig beträda din hedna helgedom
    En högtidlig kampsång från sångarskaran
Som bardas för bergets beskyddande gnom

    Urberget, äldst av troner
  • I don't really like Moving Pictures either.

    Blasphemy! ;)

  • I've never been a fan of Power Windows. It is allright, but comparing to the others, it is by far the "worst".

    O____O

    Does not understand!

  • The first four songs are alright, but they're much better on Exit... Stage Left IMO.

That's fine... just I hope you enjoy Witch Hunt. That song is my favorite.

  • It's my least favourite. :P

Same. I've never thought Moving Pictures to be one of their best.
Witch Hunt is one of the main reasons why.
I enjoy all my Rush albums.

I bought Roll the Bones a few days ago. That's usually the one I see people saying is their least favorite.
    I liked it.

There really isn't a "worst" album per say; however, the albums after Hold Your Fire really didn't do much for me. Even the newest one, Snakes & Arrows, got boring after a few songs. While Vapor Trails is the only album by Rush I don't care for, it's certainly not the worst album in the music industry. I'll just stick to the old Rush and continue blaring the old albums and playing air instruments whilst driving down the road.

Though it was the 4th most popular album of the group last week.

  • I must agree with many comments I have read. There really is not a WORST RUSH album. While being put on the spot I would have to say the album I listen to least is Caress Of Steel however, it still has some of my favorite tracks. Now if you ask me what their worst song is I would definitely have to say, "I Think I'm Going Bald".

Ack! I can't believe Witch Hunt would make anyones least favorite list.

  • Maybe Vapor Trails, but all albums have high quality.

  • For me Counterparts and Test for Echo are not great albums
