Love his voice. I rarely come across a singer who can convey so much emotions with his voice.

In doom metal, Lowe is my favourite vocalist. Then go Messiah and Doomsword's Deathmaster. All three are unlike each other, obviously.

Reading through this page I'm glad to see at least someone mentinon the emotion Lowe puts forth. His ability to bring such an immense sense of sorrow, this point alone puts him ahead of Messiah. Though in the end, there's something about Messiah I simply can't get over. Life, Death, and Other Morbid Tales have some of his best melodies. that album rivals Candlemass' greatest.

"my favorite vocalist of all time." The same, well, favorite male vocalist of all time.

I agree his vocals were far superior back in the day. Example: Samarithan, IMO his best vocal performance and one of my favorite Candlemass songs period. Yeah, I like Lowe for that main reason.. if you compare his vocals in Candlemass and Solitude.. you would notice how versatile Lowe is. Anyway, I do respect Messiah and his accomplishments, but I don't consider him one of the best singers that ever existed in the history of METAL. Cheers :)

He HAD a very good voice, until , let's say Tales Of Creation, and it's the genesis of Candlemass in a way (apart from Epicus Doomicus Metallicus), so I'll always look upon it with much respect and admiration. (That's a subjective argument, I admit ;) ). Afterwards Messiah's voice degraded a lot. For instance I don't like his voice in Memento Mori. And when he came back in Candlemass, his voice was not the same as before, I can't deny it. Some Solitude Aeturnus albums are masterpieces and anyway I'm glad Lowe came in Candlemass, for IMO he fits the place perfectly. "Tone deaf" I see what you mean, he has not much variety (Lowe is better on this point) he always sings the same way : full power most of the time.. but bloody hell that's a bloody good one ! Gotta love it ! (On the firsts albums, still) Regards ;)

Maybe in Candlemass, anyway, I wasn't comparing Messiah with Lowe in Candlemass. More so his body of work in Solitude, Last Chapter etc... I disagree, Messiah is overrated, he can have all the charisma in the world but he's not a very good singer imo tone deaf in fact lol

Prefer Messiah cause.. the first albums had something....special, really special. With Lowe it's very good doom music but I think he has not as much charism as Messiah had, it's not all about voice and singing, Messiah is more a "character" than Lowe). Still, I love Candlemass with both singers, they're different and both bloody amazing. (not to mention Johan Langqvist, who was good but Messiah came after him.)
