Hellow there, this might come across as weird and naive.. But I've just recently movet to VA beach and since I am a post-rock fanatic im finding it hard to find anyone to relate to when it comes to my music taste over here, or im just not looking in the right place, idk.. Need some help with the ''orientation'' regarding the music scenes here .. so, if there's any kind of alternative or post rock community here in VA, please don't hesitate to give me a shout. :3 Cheers!

@kirameku: check out the experimental jazz scene in RVA. Lots of groups like Ombak, Fight the Big Bull, Glows in the Dark, ILAD, Verbatim, No BS! Brass, etc. play at the Camel or Balliceaux for low prices (generally $5ish) and play incredibly. http://rvanews.com/jazz is your friend.

Toad's Place wasnt paying their rent and the venue was of poor design... whereas the National is wide and theres easier view of a wide stage for more people-- Toads was deep/long so being close to the stage was difficult and seeing it was harder, the worst was being upstairs, couldnt see a thing unless you got a lucky balcony spot upfront.

Looks like there are a bunch of music snobs around these parts. Moving on... I'm just glad the National is here. I used to mosey down to Norfolk for a lot of shows and now it's nice to be able to see my favorite bands locally.
