  Toad's Place wasnt paying their rent and the venue was of poor design... whereas the National is wide and theres easier view of a wide stage for more people-- Toads was deep/long so being close to the stage was difficult and seeing it was harder, the worst was being upstairs, couldnt see a thing unless you got a lucky balcony spot upfront.

  The National is really nice, intimate without being crowded I like it a lot...it is a little pricey for drinks...Toad's Place was a good time, not sure what happened to them though...I usually go to Va Beach, Portsmouth (my absolute fav on the water) or the NorVa which is a historical building and cool venue
