never heard of him....wait he's that fella who looks like Hercules.... crap name anyhoo, is his music alright?

  • Only heard the one song on the radio, and it just sounded exactly like Rodney Crowell.

  • And who's responsible for Silver Jews? Tell me more please :o)

  • oooooohhhhhhh partial to a bit of silver jews.....lead singer I believe has had a few problems here and there ,..... there new album comes on the back of a suicide attempt by him..... there on the drag city label.............. but the question is would they (or he) prefer a piece of batenburg or a chocolate eclair?..there can be only one................

  • Worth checking out then? Any pointers/references? I'll pass on the eclair, but it's reminded me of elephant's feet. Not had one for years and i could murder one right now..

    Quoth WagonWheel:
    Keith Urban

And he's now going to be the new Mr Nicole Kidman. Lucky bar steward.

  • I might be responsible for Silver Jews. David Berman started the band with Stephen Malkmus as a sort of side project to Pavement, and Malkmus appears on their first few albums. Berman had a lot of personal problems (substance abuse, though I don't know the entire story), and was out of commission for a while, then released "Tanglewood Numbers" last year, which I discovered late and absolutely love. You can see the links to Pavement - similar sound and lots of literate absurdist humor. If you like that one, then "American Water" and "The Natural Bridge" are also worth hearing, though not quite as good as "Tanglewood" IMO.

  • Cheers, i've got the song 'Animal Shapes' on a compilation and i really like that. I'll keep and eye out for an album...
