I don't think there is a plugin for that. Your computer would have to recognize what song the vinyl is playing and such.

I searched a bit on Google and found this which will let you manually scrobble the tracks. I also saw something where someone used Shazam for the iPhone and a Ruby script to scrobble, but I don't see how that'd be practical. You'd have to have Shazam running the entire time.

  • iPhone scrobbling is pretty much the polar opposite of what i was looking for.

incase you couldn't tell this post was a joke. happy january 27th! :)

Thank you so much for this, I've been looking for something exactly like this for ages.

  • i've ripped some vinyl to mp3 before, and while it's a rewarding project, it's time consuming. most stuff has already been ripped, so you're better off just searching for and downloading em. it's not stealing if you own the vinyl ;)

i know you were just joking though.

  • I had this crackpot idea for scrobbling vinyl plays. The basic premise of it was you'd play a record, select a 10 or 20 second period to sample and then tag that 10-20 second period with the appropriate meta data. Then when you were playing your records, you'd have part of the sound divert to your computer where it'd match each 10-20 second sample up with a pre-recorded sample.

I guess this would get really slow as your library grew. Then again, the number of tracks you have on vinyl is probably less than that you have digitally.
