    April 2010
  • kalyr

Nothing I've been listening to in the weekly top artists. Will have to do something about that. Go listen to the new Karnaraka album - it's awesome!

Oh No! Akira the Dog is baaaack!!! And who's the C.W.McCall fan? Is anyone going to own up?

    July 2009
  • TalkingScarlet

Hey debs (!) - that wasn't me - that was that awful ToffeeBoy character. Oh, and what other last.fm group would have Bill Oddie joint top of its chart. Rock on!!!!

  • nevercallmedebs

What's that, TalkingScarlet, that comment over on t'Spill wasn't intended to make us feel guilty? Oh, then I won't bother adding a shout here...

    April 2009
  • TalkingScarlet

Not a bad year for Leonard Cohen - first of all one of his songs becomes the fastest selling single of all time and now he tops the Spill Christmas Chart! Merry Christmas to you all - keep on Spilling...

    December 2008
  • kalyr

Wot no Julian Cope? What has he done to upset us? (Not that I'm particularly a fan)

    December 2008
  • TalkingScarlet

Wow! Prefab Sprout hit the Spill top ten!

    December 2008
  • Hindlejohn

.....and at number 10 (unique to this Group). Next stop, Later with Jools Holland?

    November 2008
  • ejaydee

Well donde Blimpy, rocketing up the charts at number 18 (tied).

Not that I object to Marillion - Seeing them at Manchester tomorrow night, and if the reports I've been hearing of the tour so far are to be believed, it's going to be a great one. And then I'm seeing Fish two days later... Ties in very well with the 'Longevity' thread on the Graun music blog.

  • AntMo1966

Kalyr, that'd be my fault I'm afraid - trying to get up to speed with Marillion before i see them in Concert on Thursday. somehow I didn't feel the need to familiarise myself with Motorhead before seeing them on Saturday night - fortunately my hearing has recovered in time for Thursday

One reason there's so much RT is that I'm in my car with my iPod for 90 minutes (at least) every weekday...

    November 2008
  • xseawitch

Don't think so, nor the Passions. The Teardrop Explodes are also there a lot. All good, I reckon and All About Eve should definitely take notice and reform so I can see them live!

    November 2008
  • kalyr

Marillion back in the top ten again :) Have Richard Thompson and All About Eve every been out of the ten?

    November 2008
  • ShivSidecar

I've eaten all the scons, or scoans, so it hardly matters. Next week: the world's biggest omelette.

    November 2008
  • abahachi

Scons. It's not necessarily regional, it's also class-based and a reflection of one's place in the dominant relations of production. And I'll own up to being of the Passions fans; I assume we're all listening the the same track...

    November 2008
  • xseawitch

as a half Cornish lass we put butter on the 'scoan', then jam then clotted cream (if you're going to indulge yourself, no point in doing it by halves I say). Who are all these people listening to the Passions?

    November 2008
  • Mnemosene

I'm coming down on the side of "scons" , whether drop scones or the kind you eat with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Being Cornish by upbringing, (though Scots (carpenter), Roma (horsetrader), Dutch (fen drainer), Flemish (silk weavers and mad inventors) and English (pharmacists and charlatans) by ancestry, I don't use butter but put the cream on first to make a base for the jam. How do you do yours?

    November 2008
  • kalyr

    Bollocks! It's "Scoans"

    November 2008
  • TalkingScarlet

Scons - definitely scons. We Scots invented them so we can get to say how they're pronounced!

    November 2008
  • kalyr

Do you pronounce them "Scons" or "Scoans"?

    November 2008
  • ShivSidecar

Could somebody nip round the shop and fetch some milk, please? I'm making drop scones...

    November 2008
  • kalyr

The 'unique to this group' chart is even better! (When does that update?)

    October 2008
  • nevercallmedebs

HELP! I can't get the 'Spill to load today - anyone else having trouble?? (I suspect it's down to an abundance of squirrels - should've let Kate & Anna McGarrigle's Southern Boys shoot one for breakfast... only kidding)

    October 2008
  • kalyr

The Hallowe'en list will need some Black Sabbath, of course.

    October 2008
  • xseawitch

cor, Sisters of Mercy and Nick Cave? Is it because Hallowe'en is coming up I wonder? ;-)

    October 2008
  • kalyr

Beware the Speng! I bet he's a huge fan of Akira the Dog.

    October 2008
  • TalkingScarlet

Speng follows us wherever we go - you should all know that by now.

    October 2008
  • treefrogdemon

    eek...

    October 2008
  • xseawitch

wonder if Mr Speng will follow us here?

    October 2008
  • kalyr

Very, very different chart this week. Still got the Richard Thomson and All About Eve. Nice to see Pineapple Thief in there - I bought their album on the basis of hearing it on last.fm

    October 2008
  • kalyr

Will Goodbye Pluto become the new Akira the Dog?

    October 2008
  • shoey2

@barbryn Eine Symphonie Des Grauens, Jet Set Junta, Goodbye Joe & Forever Young are some of my faves.

    October 2008
  • barbryn

The Monochrome Set are new to me - anyone want to recommend particular tracks?

    October 2008
  • tincanman2010

Check out Gaslight Anthem's new album the 59th Sound y'all. Young band's second/third album (one EP) and they have put it all together big time!

    September 2008
  • kalyr

Congratulations! You are the 100th poster on The Spill. You win a free download of Akira the Don!

    September 2008
  • TalkingScarlet

Isn't it about time someone did the 100th post? D'oh..............

    September 2008
  • kalyr

Panic Room high up on the "Unique to this group" list, I see. Ahráyeph on there as well.

    September 2008
  • xseawitch

That's a fine top ten this week, I'd listen to all of those, quite happily, you were right about Pink Floyd, Kalyr!

    September 2008
  • kalyr

I think they're listed as both Ahráyeph and Ahrayeph, which probably confuses things. Last.fm needs a facility to merge profiles of bands listed multiple times under different spellings. And that's before we even get into multiple bands with the same name - there are two Bad Companys and two Breathing Spaces, for starters.

    September 2008
  • xseawitch

no idea, even I haven't listened to them that much!

    September 2008
  • kalyr

Can someone explain why last.fm is showing only 151 listens of Ahráyeph, despite the fact they're coming up all the time on Radio 'Spill?

    September 2008
  • kalyr

Mr Cope seems to be coming up in heavy rotation on Radio 'Spill lately. (How frequently does it update - is it once a week, or more frequently). Been playing a lot of Panic Room as well.
