As much as I love Porcupine Tree......

    King Crimson

  • KC, anyone? Porcupine Tree is great, but I think even Steven Wilson would say King Crimson. Probably why King Crimson members appear on the 3 latest PT albums. I think the latest version of Crimson includes Gavin Harrison. I guess they are sharing members. Maybe they should just combine. Who knows... That might be the ultimate band!

  • I like porcupine tree better.

its just a question of personal preference. and after ive listened to 12 KC albums i would never come to the conclusion that either PT or KC are more complex. pt has really evolved and you can feel the variety of differences if your familiar with their musical rolemodels.

    love and peace yall

  • Jeez its hard to judge ... i mean Porcupine tree are still releasing amazing albums. King Crimson is Great in all forms but i cant judge this one seeing as they arent from the same time period. Porcupine Tree, Like KC did, Are really evolving and changing. This isnt a fair fight.

No contest. The Crimson King has done so many great things, they have been significant through their entire 40-year career. PT is getting there though. Ask me again in 30 years.

    King Crimson :)

  • Definitely no contest. Porcupine Tree is good, but King Crimson is probably the greatest prog band of all time.

Both groups are amazing, but I more appreciate King Crimson. Let's Don't Forget about that Robert F. recorded many albums with Steven Wilson, and his music takes lots from KC's music. Porcupine Tree, is good, but King Crimson could be the best prog band ever.

  • Don't see why a 'modern' prog rock band is being compared to a 'classic' one. I see it as comparing a thrash metal band to an alt-rock band, two very different things imo. King Crimson gets my vote as well, but I feel there is a big lack of love for the modern prog rock bands. Porcupine Tree is a very nice band as well, I love Deadwing. But there are things that are not easily comparable.

  • Just saw PT live & it was awesome but i have to say.. King Crimson.
