What is it with RHCP and Greenday?

  • What is it with RHCP and Greenday?

I used to be a very big fan of both bands, but latest stuff just doesn't do it for me.

I was wondering why you guys still listen to these guys, apart from 'they play good music.'

    cheers,

  • well , i certainly do not listen to greenday but Red Hot Chili Peppers makes the music which is just right for my soul. I love the funkiness of Flea, creative, addictive guitar riffs and solos from John Frusciante, plus his voice. Chad being the most charismatic gardener ( he really oughtta change his gardener suit). Finally Anthony Kiedis being one of the best, hell even the best vocal in Rock Industry.

  • But you don't think their latest stuff has less quality than their older smusic?

  • well, that's because they aren't new anymore, and i'm actually happy that they try to keep a standard.

I guess nothing is harder for any band to grow old at the same speed as its public.

In fact, I was a huge fan of those two, but while I find Red Hot Chili Peppers latest releases less interesting, I greatly appreciate Green Day's come back. They could have done the same old things as they greatly did in the old days of Dookie, but they tried instead a slightly more "mature" and original path. Just compare them with how The offsping has (not) evolved, for example ; sometime change is good ! ;)

  • Their latest album is quite ok, but its obvious they ripped off their leading track Dhani California from Tom Petty's Mary Jane's Last Dance.

But oh well, somehow i have never really liked them all that much.

For RHCP, I think it's a very talented band, except for the Kiedis. I think they would have done much better with someone else singing.
