watching VH1's Top 100 Songs of the 90s, Sophie B Hawkins was on. (she sang "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" )
    http://www.sophiebhawkins.com/
"Many of Hawkins's songs are openly about sex, such as "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover," from Tongues and Tails, and "I Need Nothing Else," from Whaler. "Beautiful Girl," from Wilderness, and songs such as "32 Lines" and "Your Tongue Like the Sun in My Mouth" began to deal explicitly with her bisexuality (though Hawkins reportedly prefers the term "omnisexuality"). Her influences include jazz, rock, and African music."

On VH1, they had either old or new interviews with each artist. And hers was new, and she was also featured during the entire countdown for her input of the songs. But when she described it was like "OMG! gotta show you guys"
I've searched for her clip and even the countdown but I'm not getting anything. If I find something I'll post it, but it premiered days ago.

  • Wow, I didn't know that.

Well, I have this awesome book The Bisexual's Guide To The Universe by Nicole Kristal and Mike Szymanski. Coincidentally, I let my friend borrow it for a while, and she just gave it back to me yesterday.

But it's got an alphabetical list of celebrities who are out bisexuals, with quotes for evidence (please note: that's not the entire book; otherwise I never would have gotten it). So it should come in handy now. Of course, these are bisexual people, not pansexuals. But hey, you said "non-straight celebrities"!

Here are some notable ones, in my opinion:

    Margaret Cho
    Ani DiFranco
    Vincent Price and his wife
    Anne Heche (of course)
    James Dean
    Angelina Jolie
    Queen Penn
David and Angela Bowie (his wife)
    Me'Shell N'Degeocello
    Marlon Brando
Judy Garland (yes, of Wizard Of Oz fame)
    Dusty Springfield

And I did find one pansexual in there: Tommy Tune, who has been "described as the tallest dancer in the country". O_o

Of course, there are the gay men and lesbians that immediately come to mind. Elton John, Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres, Boy George, Oscar Wilde, Melissa Etheridge, and so on. Those are obvious, though.

  • I know Mia Kirschner (wikipedia) once described herself as pansexual, it was one of the first time I read the actual word and got curious about it :)

  • Chuck Pahliniuck Writer of Fight Club and many other great books. Allen Ginzburg, Darby Crash

  • Bisexuals? I know Ginsberg was bi, anyway...

What about Kurt Cobain? Seems so few know that he was bisexual. Also, Jim Morrison.

i was thinking that, but i didn't know if there was a confirmation anywhere.
also, i think Peaches is just androgenously open.
(i always think of them together, ever hear the song "Oh My God" they did together? <3)

  • Peaches is definitely bisexual, she has stated it (needing a source here)

but her song "I U She" with the lyrics "I don't like to make the choice, I like boys and I like girls" pretty much state it hehe

T.A.T.U.? Didn't they admit that they weren't actually lesbians, and that it was just a gimmick to sell records? Although I hear they still helped a lot of Russian girls out of the closet, just from being visible and out "lesbians". =P

t.a.t.u.'s first CD, which is now the demos for the first CD, if directly translated were just bitchy girl songs and some happy pop ones; kinda like when you listen to christina aguilera. but their budget was so cheap and to attract crowds they dressed as a fantasy, school girls. and their pervert manager Ivan realized it would make them a lot of money. @.@ Although they never said they were lesbians they only said they loved eachother, which was acceptable until they came to the USA where people assumed it and they caused a big hype, but they did agree when people asked them because they could only say about 4 sentences before becoming completely confused. (haha i have some of the first english interviews they've done and after a couple questions they make no sense it's adorable).

ivan lost the contract with t.a.t.u. 'cause they were too young for him to exploit like that and he made a new band TEMA and in the video he has sex with one of the girls, it's silhouette, and he lost their contract as well.

i blame them being viewed only as a lesbian group on an old man.
    and commercial gimmics.

  • Alan Cumming

    LOL

Attention all planets of the solar federation: we have assumed control.[x3]
  • I'm gonna be a pansexual celebrity someday.

    Etre et durer
  • Anyone think that all the A-list lesbians/queer women are kind of lame? Maybe I just think most A-list anythings are kind of lame.... I'm a really big fan of Carrie Brownstein and Sleater-Kinney.

    it don't make any sense
  • I agree, even though it is interesting. =P

  • But yeah, it's annoying that queer celebrities seem to be put in a position to represent all queers. Especially people like Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres, and Elton John. And it's annoying for regular queer people, since most of us aren't super rich and famous.

Then again, it must be pretty hard to come out when the entire world is watching you.

  • I suspect that about a third of the people that know me, think of me in relation to Elton John and that annoys me. Although Elton John is pretty wonderful.

  • This funny English comedian Eddie Izzard.

"Choke me up,I like to be hurt"

"There is no pain like that of desire.
Is there no difference between women and fire?
    One burns the spirit
    The other the flesh
Is sex worth the price of certain death?"

    I love Video Game Music
