A pretty good definition from Wikipedia:

Pansexuality (sometimes referred to as omnisexuality) is a sexual orientation characterized by the potential for aesthetic attraction, romantic love and/or sexual desire for people, regardless of their gender identity or biological sex. This includes potential attraction to people who do not fit into the gender binary of male/female implied by bisexual attraction.

To summarize, pansexuals are attracted to women, men, and transgender/gender variant people. Not necessarily all at the same time! It's not that pansexuals are just extremely horny and find everyone hot. We just don't rule out the possibility of loving any person, regardless of their gender (or lack thereof).

You don't have to be pansexual to join; you can be a supporter of a different sexual orientation.

I'm not sure whether I'd be considered "pansexual" (depends how strict the term is) but I'm definitely supportive.

The research question I am working with deals with how pansexual individuals define their sexual orientation, sexual identity and pansexuality itself. The link below to the survey deals with these questions that takes about 10 minutes to fill out, and it plays an important role in my research as it aims to represent opinions of pansexually identified individuals. The responses of the participants are confidential, as well as to protect the anonymity of the respondents, no contact information (including name) is required to fill out the survey. I hope that you can put take part in the research by following this link: If you have any questions about the survey or the research you can contact me at Thank you for your time!

I’m a master’s student in Gender Studies in Lund University in Sweden and I am conducting a research on pansexual self-identification for my thesis project. As a pansexual myself, the research topic I am currently studying comes from my curiosity about how pansexuality is not studied within academia, even in disciplines like gender studies, or feminist studies. In this sense, while my purpose of conducting a research on pansexuality is rather academic, it also aims to raise awareness within academia as to the existence of pansexuality and pansexuals within LGBTQ communities.

I'm like that, and I think I will continue to identify as pansexual. But I'm increasingly more attracted to the female-bodied.

I use this term, but I think the seriously doubt I'm attracted to all. Well, I've definitely been aroused by manly guys and girly girls before, to some degree. Though I prefer Androgynous and Genderbending people. Which is why I adopted the term, because it implies a rejection of the binary gender norm. I often wonder whether the term Polysexual is better to describe me. Tell me, what is a person who feels the majority and most intense attraction to people who are in between? You know, tall, flat chested, thin hipped women. And girlyboys like you see all the time called "emo" or something. Like Bill Kaulitz.

It just seems like they're implying that it sounds like a made-up sexuality or something. I just want people to take it seriously.

Just because I think a certain joke is stupid doesn't mean I'm not open-minded. I am open-minded, but I seriously hear that joke almost every time I come out to someone as pansexual. It's annoying and borderline offensive, even though it wasn't intended that way.
