Opeth - Incredible all round skills, great instrumental work, great vocals, great song writing. Big Win :)

In flames - used to be one of my faveorite bands, their older albums are some of the best in melodeath but unfortunatley they are let down by their newer, disgracefully bad albums.

Tool - Brilliant band, I love everything they have done :)

Between the Buried and Me - This is what lost you your point, can't stand them, just not my taste I suppose.

Porcupine Tree - In Absentia is one of my faveorite albums of all time, great progressive rock and brilliant songwriting an lyrics. Great band.

    9/10 - ( would be 9.5 if we could continue to Agalloch :D )

  • Michael Franti & Spearhead - too unknown for me to rate, will give 'em a listen though

    Carcass - ditto
Dead Kennedys - back in my hardcore punk days I listed to a ton of DK
Death - not my cuppa, but decent
    Opeth - eh, overblown

    6/10

anyone who takes a stab at my top 5 should ignore Mary Janice whats-her-name. She's the author of an audiobook I listened to on the laptop and not a musician.

Be dangerous and unpredictable and make a lotta noise.
  • 1. Samael - Great, great, great.
    3. Grand Magus - Love that kind of music
    4. Monster Magnet - Same as Magus
    5. Clutch - STONER RULZ
    6. David Bowie - Classic

    7/10

  • 1 Amorphis - I listened to one album (Far from the Sun or something) once, wasn't too impressed and haven't listened to anything else since. So I don't really know them

2 Candlemass - I 'm quite fond of them. Haven't heard a lot of them and have yet to hear Nightfall though

3 Lake of Tears - Haven't heard anything of them

4 Kamelot - I like The Black Halo, wasn't too impressed by Epica on the first (and only) listen and don't know the rest. I'm not really a fan of power metal, so I'm not in a hurry to discover the rest.

5 Sentenced - Again a band I don't really listen to and haven't heard a lot of, but it was nice from what I recall. Just nothing I would listen to regularly

Save Candlemass, I'm either not familiar with it and/or I don't listen to it a lot. So... 7-/10

    Slayer

I really used to like them, but now they seem just a little overrated. Seasons in the Abyss is still a great album, though.

    Sodom

I have heard little of their stuff, but the stuff I've heard is pretty good, maybe I should get some album by them or something. Needs more listening.

    Metallica

They made some really great thrash in the 80's, even though I've gotten a little bored with MoP.

    Korn

Don't really like them. But then again, I've only heard a couple of songs.

    SOAD

God, I just hate them. Don't know why.

Overall, 7/10. Without SOAD would've been better.

  • DAMN, someone beat me. Wait here for a edit!

    Edit:

Killing Joke - One of the bands before today I had not heard. But I refuse to rate without listening. But as far as the stuff goes, it sounds pretty damn good. I like good post-punk when I do come across it and this is fucking excellent man.
Rudimentary Peni - Also, another of the ones I did not recognize. But as far as hardcore punk goes this is pretty good. Sounds like the riffs I enjoy from The Nuns but it's definitively more edgy. I dig it.
Nine Inch Nails - To be serious, I always hated Renzor's music completely. But I've always respected him, so I won't go beyond that.
Dead Kennedys - Timeless and Great, not much can be said about them other than that. I love 'em.
Sepultura - One of the worst thrash / groove / whatever the hell they are bands I've come across in my experience. Just nothing inspiring or catching for me, to be honest.

Overall, it's not bad. Not bad at all. 7/10.
