dear Souljazzsterinc: my reply to almagal may help you understand the name "old weird america". check out this link: http://oldweirdamerica.wordpress.com/2008/11/18/some-introductory-notes/ as far as i can tell, "weird" (favorably!) distinguishes the artists in this genre from the other veins of american folk music.
