Description:
For fans of Officer Kicks ... we're spreading the message far and wide!

OFFICER KICKS are a band hailing from South-East London. They have known each other for years and played music together since their teens. In late 2005 they became the four piece that we know and love as Officer Kicks.

What's bloody brilliant about O.K. (amongst many other things) is the determination they had when they deciced to make a record on their own terms. They worked hard to raise the money themselves and then went to the best residential studio in the country... where according to J. Scallion "the nostalgia and musical depth of the place was inspiring, not cheesy inspiring but balls to the wall, lets "Av it" inspiring." At the end of summer 2006 they were in a position to finish the album and recorded two more tracks at the Dairy studios in Brixton. And the result: THE SIX GRAND PLOT, the Officers' labour of love, is amazing! It's an album that has been desbribed as unsafe, muscular and whip like. What more would you want!?

Well, let's see... Officer Kicks are truly magnetic live performers. If you've seen them live once, you'll want to get another fix and soon! They played over fifty times in 2006, going away to Austria and Portugal for gigs and festivals, doing a UK tour and festival as well as lots of spot dates in London. There were many more gigs in 2007 up and down the country, as well as an appearance at Secret Garden Party Festival. Year 2008 saw some great shows, keeping the Kicks busy on the gig and festival fronts. Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party and Bestival have all witnessed Officer Kicks do what they do best- storming the stage and wowing the crowd. The gig at Manchester Apollo (supporting The Hoosiers) was a perfect example of this.

Officer Kicks spent the final month of 2008 in the studio, working hard on their forthcoming second album. They finished recording and mastering ithe album in February. Now we'll just have to wait, which is not always easy... Look out for the release of CITYWIDE CURFEW that is thankfully getting closer and closer. Before then there will be the very much awaited first single TOM THUMB (sample available for listen on http://www.myspace.com/officerkicks).

There will also be lots of opportunities to get your Officer Kicks live fix so see you at a gig soon :-)

You are so right ... it is hard to take good gig pics. My camera aint bad but I'd love an SLR but then I don't think I'd be allowed to use it at most venues. I know I've seen the Kicks twice this month but they were so good I really would love to have been there tonight. I hope you had a great time.

Thanks Dez! I did have a look at your pics on MySpace a few days ago. Very nice :-) It's so hard to take good gig pics. I really need a better camera! Officer Kicks tomorrow night- can't wait to get my Kicks :-)

I tried adding pictures last night - but I think last.fm was experiencing a few difficulties and only managed to upload a couple. I will have another go tomorrow night as I'm off to see Vampire Weekend tonight. If you are keen to see them you can see them on myspace - http://www.myspace.com/dezmyspace

Lucky! Bloody hell! Was the Apollo in for a rare treat! Officer Kicks were on the best form that I have seen them. I have seen the Apollo rock whilst the headliner is on but never, never, never, until last night that is, seen it rock that hard for a support band - the first support at that ... simply out of this world!

Thanks Kirsi, I must admit twice in a month is very lucky. Glad you liked the pics. I have my camera ready for tonight. I will post them as soon as I have weeded out the rubbish ones - usually down to the photographer! Now must go make myself look respectable - we are meeting them late this afternoon. Yes very lucky!

Have fun at the Apollo Dez and enjoy getting your Kicks fix! Thanks for posting the pics from In The City- they were cool :-) If you manage to take any good ones at the Apollo, would be really really nice to see some here too. Not long to go now, you lucky lady!

Jamie did let the cat out of the bag about the Hoosiers gig but I didn't want to say anything until it was officially confirmed - just in case. It is great news that they will be supporting the Hoosiers, luckily Tasha and I had already planned to see The Hoosiers so have tickets. Last time we saw the Hoosiers (february), The Script supported them just as they were due to release 'We Cry' ... We are really looking forward to the Apollo gig, this is my favourite venue as the accoustics are really good.

Thanks, Dez! I'm so happy you had a wonderful night with Officer Kicks. You guys have really deserved it for everything you've done. They are all lovely people, you're absolutely right! Both the band and the people who support them all the way. Yes, I did see Chris last Friday and actually mentioned that you and Tasha would be doing some good work for the Officers in Manchester. Good thing you met him and Caffy too. All in all a success, it seems :-) And there will be some more for you very soon...

Officer Kicks were AWESOME! Tasha and I had a great night. The Kicks were great and kept Tasha and I entertained all evening. Fisher was in a great mood and very funny! Keith was lovely and very friendly. Jamie dedicated 'Pictures of Me' to Tasha for her 18th birthday which was lovely - this really made her night. Actually she hasn't stop beaming since Sunday night. Shame they weren't on long enough though. Surprising ... all the band were really lovely guys (ok that bit isn't surprising) and seemed genuinely pleased to see us. I didn't expect to meet either Caffy nor Chris Fleetwoood. Chris made a point of coming over to introduce himself - I was very surprised he knew who I was. I gather you have met. It was all good .... left me wanting more ...

How was the gig in Manchester? No doubt they were brilliant, but did anything funny or surprising happen?
