Description:
This is a group dedicated to the Japanese alternative rock group Oblivion Dust.
Oblivion Dust formed in 1996 out of the ashes of the band Addict of the Tripp Minds. Addict of the Tripp Minds originally consisted of Kenichi Okamoto (vo), Kaz Iwaike (g), Ken Lloyd (g), Derek Forbes (ba), and Taka Motomura (dr). The band was resolved when Kenichi Okamoto stepped down as vocalist, purportedly to follow an acting career. Oblivion Dust was, in essence, borne when Ken Lloyd proclaimed himself vocalist, in a drunken stupor.
Oblivion Dust were markedly different from many other rock bands in Japan during the late nineties, partially due to their odd mish-mash of alternative rock and electronic sounds. Another unique aspect of Oblivion Dust was that the band's lyrics were not only written in Japanese, but also in English due to Ken Lloyd's British-Japanese familial background.
Although the band endured several line-up changes, Ken Lloyd and Kaz Iwaike remained constant members. The current officially-recognized lineup consists of Ken Lloyd on vocals, Kaz Iwaike on guitar, and Rikiji Masuda on bass.
The band ultimately split up, at the height of their popularity, in 2001 after releasing 5 albums, 11 singles, 2 DVDs, and 3 VHS tapes throughout their career.
NEW INFO
Despite having been disbanded for six years, Oblivion Dust held two reunion concerts in early September of 2007 (titled, appropriately, "RESURRECTED"). The band have recently announced the release date for their new album, still untitled. The new album will come out on January 23rd of 2008, alongside re-releases of all of their previous albums ("LOOKING FOR ELVIS", "misery days", "REBORN", "BUTTERFLY HEAD", and "RADIO SONGS~Best of Oblivion Dust"). The re-releases will retail for 1905円 each. There will also be a series of three singles released prior to the album. One will be released per week, starting December 26th of this year and ending January 9th of 2008.
The new album will be released in two versions: the regular version, which will retail for 2800円 and contain ten tracks, and the limited edition version, which will retail for 3600円, and which will contain a bonus DVD featuring live footage from Oblivion Dust's "RESURRECTED" tour and a music video.
