Attention! ppl who have heard the recently released NIN album, The Fragile (The Center), i'm thinking of buying it because The Fragile is my fave Halo and i'm always interested in hearing new interpretations to it. I know that it is apparently "unofficial" and "not approved by Trent" but it still seems interesting. if it truly is a trainwreck, then i probably won't bother. so, if anyone would like to fill me in on their personal opinion regarding the matter, you can leave me a shout, and i would appreciate it greatly

Klatch is right. I first listened to the most rock songs of NIN, I'd say even the most heavy. I wasn't into the like-80s-keyboards or straight minimal beat like in Hand That Feeds... and now, look - I like many more styles and my project is not even strictly rock http://anxiousmindmusic.wordpress.com/

I agree with klatch. But I always recommending broken for first step with NIN. :)

For the most part I agree with klatch. Especially about the albums differing. I've had people that were more into metal tell me that Ghosts got them into NIN. That doesn't make much sense, since it is not even close to their heavier material.

It depends on what they listen to in the first place. Each album differs quite a bit in style, so the trick is to ease people into NIN by starting with an album that resembles their musical preference the most. Then take it one step at a time, slowly, because too many misses and bias could develop. i.e. One friend of mine absolutely abhorred Pretty Hate Machine, so I had a really hard time getting him to give NIN another chance. But when he did, I started him off with The Slip, which he now adores. The next step was to get him to like The Fragile and really let it grow on him. etc.

What album would you suggest to a person that hasn't listened to NIN before? I saw this come up on a message board. I suggested start at Pretty Hate Machine, and work your way through the catalog.
