Your suggestions wanted...

  • Secret Machines arent new. They have an album out

I must have missed their Top 10 single then.

Laugh while you can, monkey boy.
  • Swedish Underground 8-bit Electro-Punk

(Shamelessly copy-and-pasted from my own webpage, 'cause I'm lazy and occasionally recommend music there too. Also, shameless self-promotion.)

    World, meet Bondage Fairies.

The title does as good a job as a few words can do to describe them, and it's not like there's any easy artists to list for comparison. They've got male and female vocalists, what sounds like a pretty normal punk-rock setup instrumentally, and a great fondness for old-school synthesizer sounds. If you heard Paza The X-Dump's remix of Beck's Girl, you know some of the basics of the feel of the sound, but when you have a band that's intent on mixing both together in songs as all they do, the result's very different. They're mostly fast and aggressive, and occasionally, overly reminiscent of the soundtrack to Contra.

There's really only one way to do their unique sound justice, though, and that's to listen to them. Sadly, their album (What You Didnt Know When You Hired Me) isn't out until January 2006 on Lobotom Records, so for a real proper listen, you'll have to wait.

(MP3 samples on my webpage, for those of you who don't mind a little pre-release copyright infringement. Don't tell.)

  • Mystery Jets are superb, they've been on the verge of being big for 18 months at least. They just need a good album to come out and they've done it.

  • Overplay

    A very good site is

    http://www.overplay.co.uk/

You can find here artist wich haven't yet signed up for a record label. Keep in mind there is a lot rubbish as well, but sometimes you'll find the needle in the haystack.

This site has loads of live sessions from new/up-and-coming bands (in the UK) or you can listen to the whole album of many rock/alt/indie band who have new albums out and anyone can listen for free so it's worth checking out:
    http://www.xfm.co.uk/sectional.asp?id=434&b=multimedia

They also keep past sessions so if you want you can search the back session calalogues to see if a band you like has done a live session.

    White Rose Movement

  • The Redwalls

Only just joined this group so not sure if The Redwalls have been mentioned yet. They do have an album out which is fantastic. Known about them since the supported Oasis earlier this year (does that already make them a Big Thing) but don't think they've had anything in the charts in the UK yet.

Loving Kubb at the moment as well.

  • Ambulette

I'm really hopeful for Ambulette. The singer is Maura Davis, from Denali. You can hear them on www.myspace.com/ambulette

They've recently signed on with Astralwerks to release an EP on March 21st

Living's so pretty, let's do it again
  • Corinne Bailey Rae

She's already charging ELEVEN pounds for her concert! Which is a little presumptions for my liking.
