* The Unwinding Hours - The Unwinding Hours Post-rock. Annoyed me - the quiet bits were so low I had to turn the volume up, only to be accosted by too loud loud bits. Be warned.
* Field Music - Field Music (Measure) Wide ranging and varied double album, going from rock, through post-rock, to experimental, to soft. What's it got? It's got the lot. Great album. Tagged in hope.

* Holly Miranda - The Magician's Private Library Debut album. Recorded with TV ON THE RADIO’s Dave Sitek before being signed. Super-talented artist, sounds a little like Cat Power sometimes, othertimes like Soap&Skin. Music is varied and ranges from experimental indie folk to indie pop. Exceptional. Tagged in hope.
* Electric President - the violent blue ex Morr music. It's good but not wow. It's the middle ground, music for background, music to work to, music to fall asleep to. Nothing demanding here, but nothing memorable either. It's not Insomnia. Full tracks and free downloads. Tagged.
April Smith and The Great Picture Show - Songs for a Sinking ShipApril Smith The Brooklyn, N.Y. singer-songwriter channels mixes influences from the '30s to the present on her fan-funded debut. * Zeus - Say Us Just as I feel I'm close to naming something, along comes something else. Certainly an album I'd like to get to know. Lots going on. Tagged in hope.
* Sambassadeur - European Third album from Swedish pop rockers. So-so. Tagged in hope.
We just upgraded the Last.fm website. Here's the log entry:
• New releases dashboard available to everyone. Our last update brought a new feature for our subscribers to beta-test: recommended new releases based on your musical taste. We've spent the past 2 weeks taking your feedback on board, and it's now ready for prime-time. We've tweaked the algorithms to make recommendations better and fixed some bugs. We'll be keeping an eye on the forum post, so if you'd like to give us feedback then you can do so there.
• New API methods. We've added an affiliates section to the Last.fm API, so developers can easily add buy links to their music players or mashups. API users can search for tracks and albums in online stores that work in your country (including Amazon, 7Digital, and iTunes). The API docs will be online soon, along with the docs for our city hype charts. There's also a new service that lets you get all tracks you've played by a particular artist. Comments, questions, and more details can be found in our Web Services Forum in this post.
• Bugfixes. A rather minimalistic 5 bugfixes are going live in this release, but every little helps.
• Bonus blog post: Last.fm went to the Music Hack Day in Stockholm. Both Last.fm developers and indies built a load of cool stuff – you can find links to our favourite hacks in the blog post.
That's it for now. We'll see you back here in 2 weeks with more improvements. Live long and prosper.

acreature said: A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, a new version of the Last.fm site was released. No, wait: it was this galaxy, and just now. Here's what's new:
• US users can now buy in bulk from the Amazon MP3 store. Ever wanted to download all your loved tracks, or export a playlist to MP3s? Maybe you'd like to buy a custom "Best-of" album based off an artist's most popular tracks. Well, now you can! If you're in the States you'll see a 'Buy all from Amazon MP3' button on loved tracks pages, playlists, your top tracks, and artist charts. You'll get to choose which tracks you want to purchase (and see how much they cost) before heading over to Amazon to finalise the purchase. If you're outside the States, fear not – our protocol droids are working on bringing this feature to a wider audience.
• Bugfixes. We killed off 5 bugs in this release, including making our status page more obvious when everything goes awry, curing the date-picker's insanity on our events page, fixing the alignment on group pages charts, and making our spam-protection links more language-aware.
• Bonus Playground feature: scrobbling timelines. Marvel at your listening habits graphed over time! Wonder at your scrobbling milestones! Compete with your friends over who listens to what! You can play with it over in the Playground or read all about it on our blog.
See you back here in two weeks for our next update. May the force be with you.
