  I don't know about calling them "shoegaze"...I'm always a bit wary of scene-based genres, rather than sound-based ones. In the long-term, who cares about geographic or temporal proximity? It's not useful. I prefer to associate My Bloody Valentine with Jesus & Mary Chain and Ride. All three were amazing at combining hook-laden guitars with a blanket of noise.
