What happened to the old one? Why can't we keep it one thread?

The nature of the vandalism meant your computer stalled on opening the last post (he posted what seemed like 100 high resolution *images*).

The only thing to do was delete the thread from the route.

A clever attack by a pillock with no life!

I just picked it up a couple days ago but haven't had a chance to give it a listen yet. I've heard nothing but good things about it though.

    Gotta favorite track so far?

This Week's Featured Band (9-16 July):

    Mogwai

    What was your first album?

What would your Desert Island album be?

The first 3 tracks that pop into your head?

    My first album?

"Rock Action", which I first listened to in 2003 after constant badgering from a chum.

    My Desert Island album?

Another consistent band with plenty to ponder over. I think in this case, the charm of my first encounter is still there, so I'll go with that spark.

    Rock Action it is.

    3 tracks?

    Hunted By A Freak
    2 Rights Make 1 Wrong
    Superheroes of BMX MPC

Secret Snacker & Accomplished Pen Thief At:
  • My First album was Happy Songs for Happy People but my desert one would be the self-titled.

    3 tracks:
    Stanley Kubrick
    Kids Will Be Skeletons
    Rollerball

  • Gig Poster of the Day (JUL 9):

    Tortoise

    My first album?

Young Team. I first listened to it this year. I picked this one because some of my friends told me that it is Mogwai's best...

    My Desert Island album?

...And they were right. Great album.

    (btw, great cover art)

    3 tracks?

    Like Herod
    Hunted by a Freak
    Friend of the Night

  • Mr. Beast

The first album I really listened to was Mr. Beast. I would take it to the desert island as well. After seeing them live I would prefer to take the band along, though.

I need to, need to multify myself
I wish I had the luxury of time
  • My first album?

Young Team. I actually first bought Mogwai Fear Satan remix ep just because Kevin Shields had done one of the remixes. Bought Young Team soon afterwards and the love affair began in earnest

    My Desert Island album?

Extremely difficult as my favourite songs are scattered across all of their albums. However if I must choose just one, I choose

    3 tracks?
More difficulty but will go with:

New Paths To Helicon (Part 1)
    Chocky
    We're No Here

Saw them tonight at Somerset House and they were awesome!

  • I've heard a few samples here on last.fm recently, and the genre caught my interest. Could some recommend to me a few albums to get started?

mm that best-100 post rock list is abit dodgy imo. only one album each by Mogwai and Tortoise? 3 albums by explosions in the sky? no Fly Pan Am or Windy & Carl or Dead Texan? come on..

    anyway -

    First Album?

the first Mogwai album i bought was Happy Songs for Happy People in 2003. I then listened to Young Team and was hooked for good.

    Desert Island Album?

Young Team definitely, followed by EP+6

    3 Tracks?

    Tracy
    Ex-Cowboy
    Small Children in the Background
